Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 The Rochester Red Wings announced that "RHP Vance Worley was placed on the disabled list with a right shoulder injury." Hopefully nothing serious and just some rest.
Smcginnity Provisional Member Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 So, does someone (Baxendale or May) get called to AAA?
cmathewson Provisional Member Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 So, does someone (Baxendale or May) get called to AAA? Probably May. Baxendale hasn't pitched much in AA.
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Don't they already have a rotation of five? Even without Worley? Albers, Hendriks, Walters, Hernandez and De Vries? Or is De Vries hurt again I can't remember. I'd love to see May get bumped, but I might suspect they'd just recall Vasquez.

Winston Smith Verified Member Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Pitchers with shoulder issues tend to be bad news at some point.
70charger Verified Member Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Kind of figures the way he was pitching. I wonder if he was playing hurt, but not really hurt enough to stop playing. In any case, I hope it really is just a rest and recover kind of thing.
Oxtung Verified Member Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Shairon Martis could move back to the rotation. He was in the opening day rotation and started 3 games. If they advance a player from New Britain then AA needs to find a new starter as well. Perhaps Hermsen returns to the rotation or Summers gets called up again from Fort Meyers. There is currently a 6 man rotation at Fort Meyers so promoting to NB shouldn't be a problem.
Rosterman Verified Member Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Ah, yes...another pitcher whose name was bandied about as a trade possibility goes down, and his name isn't Blackburn. We WILL see Nick up here before too long. AMidst all the talk about the Twins not trading anyone before the deadline, there is always the waiver wire and the Twins can still move Morneau, Correia, Doumit, Pelfry for a grade-B prospect or just dump salary if they see fit. See that happening if anybody lays claim to one of many warm bodies (Jamey Carroll included...or Josh Roeincke).

If they get someone who could help, or even if they use the at-bats/innings to give experience to a young guy, that would be palatable, but I would not want to give away players just to give the team an even lower payroll.
raindog Verified Member Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 So, does someone (Baxendale or May) get called to AAA?I think the Twins will move up May when he's ready, not to arbitrarily fill a roster spot. Baxendale hasn't pitched much in AA at all.
