Not good or bad necessarily, just ... weird. Flies in the face of everything else they've been doing. I'm not sure how I woulda felt about it if they'd sent, say, Culpepper and Abel out for Peralta (is that a fair approximation? I dunno). I'd certainly have a lot of follow-up questions But the fact that there was nothing on this until after the fact makes me think there wasn't really much to this, if anything at all. Kinda like how Terry Ryan would talk about being "in on" all these free agents they didn't sign. You don't get credit for thinking about almost making a move. You either make the move or you don't. No partial credit is given out in this course. I agree it's a weird move...and I don't think the talks got that serious based on the reporting. But if the Twins were inquiring, they must have been willing to foot the $8M price tag. Who knows if they were trying to unload salary (i.e. Larnach). That may also mean that they have more money to spend. That means the Twins are still trying to upgrade the roster. That is my biggest takeaway from the piece.

It's also the kind of thing you do when you want to look like you're trying without actually trying. They have me very confused right now. Time will tell I guess ashbury and Chembry 2

Sounds like a lack of communication in the front office. Similar to when my wife and my mother were at an antique auction and ended up bidding against one another trying to win a piece of furniture we wanted. We did have the winning bid; I just don't remember which of the two made it.

tony&rodney Verified Member Posted January 27 Posted January 27 I think the Twins offered Edouard Julien for Freddy Peralta and indicated a willingness to part with Larnach and a A ball minor league pitcher if needed to complete the deal. Milwaukee said thank you for the interest and asked the Mets for one more player in consideration of "an offer" from the Twins. The Mets, being from NYC, held their ground. So Julien and Larnach missed out at their chance to play in Milwaukee.
David HK Verified Member Posted January 31 Posted January 31 Pfft... The Twins, checking on (insert decent player name here): Twins: Yah, ya wanna come here, then, and compete for 4th place in our division, with a trash owner situation? Player/ agent: Nope. Twins: Yah, ok then, we had ta check. LakesPibble and Doctor Wu 2
