Early but this weeks power rankings has some praise for LG Donovan Jackson

 https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/47389978/nfl-week-17-power-rankings-poll-32-teams-2025-best-rookies#min

Jackson is the only Vikings rookie who has played more than 300 snaps this season, so the list of options here is limited. But the No. 24 pick has proved he belongs since day one. He has been especially effective as a run blocker, ranking No. 6 in the NFL in run block win rate among guards. Whether he develops into a Pro Bowl-level player remains to be seen, but he at least can be counted on as a long-term starter.

Damn. That means they should shut him down. He hasn't shown enough that they can unquestionably give him the job next year but he's still the most likely person to get it. But they will have to bring in someone to compete for the job. Not sure who that would be. Arguably, there aren't 32 quality starting QBs in the league. Willis from GB is a free agent, maybe he might want a one year, make good contract? But might also want a promise that it's his job.

I’m on board with the Justin Jefferson should be tampering with Joe Borrow position.

Vikings always top two in NFLPA player satisfaction, great facilities, good defense, vs bottom rankings for the bengals.

I love the idea but the Burrow to MN is a pipe dream. There is no way the salary would work - he gets something like 75m/yr soon. And if he were on the block, no one could outbid the Jets but lots of teams could probably put monster packages together for him.

Unless we find another Sam Darnold, the Vikings best hope is that McCarthy can stay healthy and develop into a very good QB. I think he can but the injuries worry me.

It is a pipe dream, and for sure won’t happen. But Burrow’s  currant makes it more likely, as it will allow him to call the shots. The theory isn’t that the Bengals will willingly do so, he’s only traded if he demands to get traded, and he won’t be demanding to be traded to the Jets.

That's a fair point. He could say he wants to be traded to Vikings, Packers, Lions, SF, and a few others that are close but need him. That would be nice. Our longterm contracts aren't actually that problematic from a brief view of spotrac.

Trying to think of who, but we’ve seen that a few times. Players giving a list of teams they’ll accept a trade to.

Bench Jefferson. Play Felton.

*as soon as he gets to 1k yards on the season.  There's HOF and all-time records to keep in mind (I'm sure Jefferson does).

Burrow is obviously far more talented than JJM, but has one of the same issues as well--durability.  At least with JJM it only costs you $4M if your starting QB is out.  From an affordability standpoint, the Vikings could get there through releases and restructures, but it leaves nothing left for any other improvements to the roster outside of the draft.  It feels like that's taking one final big swing at a Superbowl in 2026, and then entering purgatory for the rest of the contract.

All that to say, I'm curious to see what would happen with it, but I think the more prudent course is to put everything on JJM next year, and make him prove it.  If he can't draft one of the QBs coming out in 2027; for once, do whatever it takes to get the one you want, and for the love of all that's good, draft some lineman to protect him.

Spotrac says Burrow has a full no trade clause, so he's going nowhere unless it's somewhere he wants to be.  I would think the Rams might be a top suitor--Burrow would have a real shot at Superbowls, and the Rams have the Falcons 1st rounder this year, so they have some nice assets.

Detroit will be balls-out playing to win at all costs.

Meanwhile the Vikings: “Give ‘em hell, Max B.! Take the night off everyone else! Rest up for the season finale against the Pack!” 🤣

(no, I do not want Brosmer to fail personally)
