Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2025 Posted September 28, 2025 Given a million chances and couldn’t cross mid field. Seen enough of wentz
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2025 Posted September 28, 2025 This is why we don't have conversations bout JJ not starting when he's healthy. This season is about developing him, not thinking Carson Wentz is another miracle. Mike Sixel and gunnarthor 2
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2025 Posted September 28, 2025 Absolute masterclass in bungling that last drive

They had a chance and bungled it totally. Aggies7 1

Have to keep trying the young guy, and if he doesn't show what we need to see, you try again in the draft in the next couple years. TheLeviathan, Mike Sixel and RpR 2 1

Parfigliano Verified Member Posted September 28, 2025 Author Posted September 28, 2025 Pittsburgh sure tried to let Vikes tie or win it.
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2025 Posted September 28, 2025 Here's a bold call....but I think this game was truly lost on that third quarter drive that started at the 10, drove down and was moving the ball, then did two cutesy ass plays on the Steelers 40 before a tipped interception. That drive is the one that tipped the game. All they had to do was keep using Mason and the quick throws and instead we try a bunch of screens with a line already struggling to protect. Mike Sixel 1
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2025 Posted September 28, 2025 Biggest takeaway from this game is at least Mike tomlin isn’t our coach. He still coaches like it’s 25 years ago Mike Sixel 1

I would hope KOC could watch the first drive and see that it works. JJ had 4 catches and like 50 yards and never once was his QB holding the ball too long. This can be done. Mike Sixel 1

That late game drive was most encouraging to me since it wasn't scripted all week in practice. Compare that to the chaos that occurred in the final drive when they were forced to push it deep and to the sidelines. I think they can make the quick read passes work. The biggest obstacle is that this kind of play style lends itself to lots of screen passes, something this franchise has not been able to do since KOC took over. I really don't think the pulling lineman know who to block, they just stand around often facing the wrong direction. TheLeviathan 1

Will Fries getting flagged for being down field too soon and then, on replay, watching him mosey around doing jack squat was depressingly hilarious. nicksaviking 1
gunnarthor Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2025 Posted September 29, 2025 Hi all. Missed the game chat, sorry. I had a few thoughts. 1) KOC is a really good coach. This team was not in the game yet somehow the team stayed in the game, got the ball back and probably should have stolen a win. That's really incredible. This team doesn't quit. Whatever this coaching staff has done has really worked. The players think they can win, even down late. Amazing culture they've created. Honestly, Zimmer Vikings would have been destroyed. 2) KOC still is struggling on play-calling. I love his offense and, when the o-line is blocking, it can be devasting. But he still gets too cute and takes too long to adjust to challenges from the defense. He needs to get better. Still, love him as a coach. Really think he'll win a super bowl for us. 3) Seen enough of Wentz. McCarthy is the starter when he's healthy. RpR, Mike Sixel and TheLeviathan 2 1
