We got a little teaser last weekend and now it’s officially here!

I am weirdly optimistic about the Gophers this year. I have no delusions of them making it to the Big 10 (really 18) championship game, but I could see a 9-10 win team this year if the new QB Lindsay is legit.

Texas is my adopted football team after living down there several years. The preseason #1 ranking is aggressive. Saturday is going to be a big challenge going to Ohio State. Can’t wait!

13-10 gophers after three to mighty Bulls of Buffalo. Why does every Minnesota team disappoint?

Classic PJ Fleck week 1 game. I’m very impressed with the young QB Drake Lindsey. His WRs and TEs have been letting him down most of the game. He should have way over 300 yards passing this game.

Call me a homer but I think whenever Lindsey declares for the draft, he’ll be a 1st round draft prospect. Can Fleck keep him here until he declares? No one knows.

I'll give Lindsey this:  he's not afraid to rip it into tight windows.  He can really sling it, but the Bulls left at least a couple interceptions out there.

He's gonna put up a stinker on occasion because of this, but he could be really good once he develops a more discerning eye for those windows and tightens up his timing

Whelp. That will quiet down the Arch Manning hype for a couple of weeks at least. He’s got a lot of work to do as a passer. Looking forward to the Clemson LSU game later tonight!

The hype was stupid to begin with, he didn't look that good last year in two starts and is essentially an unknown at this point, I can't find it surprising that he struggled against a great defense. People need to slow the Heisman and 2026 #1 overall pick hype down.

Plus he can make like six million in college....I wonder if they'll decide based on who has the top two picks?

I wonder if he will even be a top 2 pick.

I read somewhere that this was NC's worst defeat since Belichick's girlfriend was in middle school.  Granted, that was just 11 years ago, but still it's bad.

Belichick is not the greatest football coach of all time, but he certainly is the most overrated.

The scales have tipped too far to Brady's side in the argument whether it was Brady or Belichick responsible for the NFL dynasty. In Brady's first 10 ish years, he was carried by Belichick's elite defense and a HOF worthy kicker in Adam Vinateri making clutch last second FGs. Then Brady had an insane run throughout his 30s and early 40s which carried Belichick.

Now he's a 73 year old man coaching college for the first time which makes zero sense.

Not really.  In 2004 (first year I could find stats leaderboards for the league), which was Brady's 4th year, he was 10th in the NFL in passer rating.  He was 7th in 2005 (but really 6th because 1st went to something called Quinn Gray who completed 8 passes in 1 game, 2 of which went for TDs), fell to 14th in 2006, and then led the league in 2007.  He essentially missed all of 2008, was back at 10th in 2009, and finished 1st in 2010 and third in 2011 to finish his 10th year.  So to sum up, he was never worse than 14th (so was always better than average), was only once out of the top 10, and was 3 times in the top 3.  Doesn't really seem like a "game manager" being carried by an elite defense.

Also, for what it's worth, let's look at New England's opponent PPG starting in 2005, to provide uniformity.  17th in 2005, then 2nd, 1st, and 8th in 2006, 2007, and 2008 (The Year Without Brady), followed by 6th in 2009, 8th in 2010, and 11th in 2011.  So Belichick's "Elite" defense was outside the top 10 more than Brady, was not in the top 3 as much as Brady, and was below average one year, whereas Brady never was.  Did Brady benefit from having a pretty darn good defense?  Absolutely.  But it just doesn't mirror reality to say that until 2012 NE was winning Superbowls based on defense, and not Brady.

Gophers moving down the field with ease and they call for a trick play that gets blown up and ruins the drive. I don’t get to watch a ton of the gophers but I feel like odd play calling happens a lot when I do tune in

GameDay is in Pittsburgh today.  Pat McAfee brought up Paul Skenes and it immediately triggered a giant "SELL THE TEAM" chant from the crowd.  I don't think Nutting is super popular among the locals

Easily MLB's worst owner. Which is saying a lot.

Is arch Manning still a top pick for next year?

Some team will probably decide yes.  I think said team will need to decide who their next top pick who plays QB is within 2-3 years.

I bet Manning returns to school next year.

Though I'm thinking top rated HS QBs might want to start avoiding Steve Sarkisian. Jake Locker at Washington, Cody Kessler at USC and now Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning at Texas? Most college coaches never get a QB recruit as highly rated as those guys and none of them lived up to the hype.

Agreed on all this.

Would Manning even be talked about with a different last name?
