A (perhaps predictable) tidbit from Dan Hayes today in the Athletic:

Quote

With an inexperienced back end of the bullpen, multiple league sources said the Twins have reached out to veteran free agent Ryan Pressly about a possible reunion. Pressly ... was designated for assignment by the Chicago Cubs on Thursday and released on Friday.
... A source said Pressly, 36, is mulling his options, including retirement.

Have to think at least one contending team also has an offer out to him. I know he took a big step back, but pitchers worse than he were getting traded at the deadline.

Good point!

So far, the only other Pressly report that I found is that the Astros are "weighing the possibility" per Bob Nightengale.

But if the alternatives are the Twins or retirement, I suppose Pressly can afford to wait and see if a better team loses a RP to injury in August.

Hmm.... been over a week and no team has picked him up yet? Considering his admirable track record, that is puzzling. Are there arms problems or something else preventing someone from signing him?

Not sure about other clubs and the wire has no hints on recurrent injuries.

I think the Twins are marching on, kissing this year off, using the remainder of the season as an extended Spring training. Don't expect to see ol' (should I say old?) 36 yr old #55 in a Twins uniform again.

The ball is in Pressly's court. He might want to take some time off and wait to see what his best landing spot is closer to September. Save his arm for the playoffs and save himself the pitfall of signing with a club that looks good now, but three weeks from now looks like a doormat.
