Mike Trout hits HR. The Twins coaches will have to get a LOT more power out of Jenkins to get him to Mike Trout level performance.

I fail to see how Jenkins having the type of career either had as 'disappointing'. Or a 15 year career with a 124 OPS. That's better than a whole career of 2019 Max Kepler.

If he turns out to be another Max Kepler that will be quite disappointing. That means they should trade him now while his perceived value is still high.

Right, but you said Bobby Allison and Bobby Bonds would be disappointing while I pointed out that your dismay over the 124 career OPS was better than the fantastic 2019 season from Max Kepler, so I'm asking why? I did NOT say Bobby Bonds would be a disappointing outcome, no matter how many other people try to put those words into my mouth. Bob Allison would be at the low end of expectations for the #2 prospect in baseball. It would be disappointing compared to what people perceive as his ceiling. They should consider trading him now if that is the most likely future outcome since his future value is rated higher than that at this moment.

I would venture to guess that the #2 prospect in baseball rarely turns out to be as good as Bob Allison. Allison, who was one of the best players in the game, broke his wrist twice and would have been in the HOF had he been able to stay healthy and play longer. Which seems irrelevant in Jenkins' case, because if his first seven years in a Twins uniform are as good as Allison's first seven, Jenkins will be wearing a different uniform come year 8 at the latest. Its impossible to say who is a HR hitter until their career is over. RpR 1

I agree that if Jenkins is as good as we all hope, the Twins will be forced to trade him in his 5th season with the team, if not sooner. Mike Sixel 1

This is why the Twins coaches ABSOLUTELY need to keep working with him to get more HR power out of his swing. It is hard to find a good comp for a LF with a long career with that little power - Ken Griffey Sr played 50 years ago. Melky Cabrera? Fatbat 1

Hits 250 HRs and 400 2B’s in his career. Who will complain? Mike Sixel and Major League Ready 2
tony&rodney Verified Member Posted December 2, 2024 Posted December 2, 2024 Jackson Holliday had a rough intro to MLB and still carries a very high value. Jenkins is still young and hopefully starts at AA. Highly rated prospects get argued over incessantly. Jenkins value is really high right now but he isn't going anywhere. He is in a different class than recent Twins prospects. One might put him beside Byron Buxton as a hyped prospect, although they are not very similar. Jenkins, like most prospects gets compared to some pretty good ballplayers, such as Larry Walker, Kyle Tucker, and even a mention of Bryce Harper. I don't know about any of those but I'm going to watch his plate appearances to see how he handles things playing for Wichita.

That's the difference between Ken Singleton and Claudell Washington.
