If he's not right, it's better that he takes himself out until he's good. Too many athletes play through something. Now, if he's gassed because he went to bed at 5am, that's another thing. But if he was dinged up from some hits and needed time, I'm ok with it. We know nfl trainers don't care. Mike Sixel and TheLeviathan 2

Right, initially I thought I heard he came out for a play as he had the wind knocked out of him. Why not stick with that? So dumb. I mean, if he doesn't care what a bunch of fat, middle aged men sitting on their couches think about that, more power to him. But maybe should be concerned about what the teammates think and maybe even more importantly, you probably don't want to let the upcoming opponents know they can take you out of the game by getting him too tired. His comment probably lost half the locker room at least. Does he think his OL isn’t tired on the field?

But of all the QBs in the league, he's probably the last guy who should be expecting his exception to that exception to go over well.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2024 Posted October 28, 2024 It's a bad look for sure. I'm not sure it's a bad idea if he feels he can't play, but I'm also not sure it's a good idea.

I agree with the general premise that Richardson shouldn't have said what he said but I'm also not going to overly think it. Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2024 Posted October 28, 2024 One play? Then I have zero issue. WRs come out as do RBs all the time for one play to catch their breath. All. The. Time.

Of course this happens against the Vikings. Now they'll have to draw up and practice two completely different game plans for two completely different QBs. I know it's not like they're stuck scheming for either Joe Montana or Steve Young, but still. Last week Kupp and Nacua surprisingly suit up, London three weeks ago and Love comes back early and plays four weeks ago. The Vikings sure seem to be running a gauntlet of atypical and unexpected game planning. gunnarthor 1

Hopefully it will free up Grenard and Van Ginkle to get after the QB again too. gunnarthor 1
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted October 29, 2024 Posted October 29, 2024 Heh, I didnt even hear about the Anthony Richardson thing until getting caught up on this thread. Anthony Richardson can thank Tyrique Stevenson for hot dogging that hail mary, which took up all the social media oxygen, at least that I saw.

Without trying to parse GPS stats by position, I would guess that QB and OL are the two position groups that run the smallest distance in a game, and I'd guess it's not particularly close. I would also guess they are the two positions groups involved in the fewest full-speed collisions.
