Didn't see that one coming. Not surprised (re: Okert's performance). But nobody else really seems to be pushing for the roster spot either.

As I said elsewhere, I think the Okert/Gordon trade was fair. This maybe continues to prove that point. Trading borderline roster players for a better positional fit is a good move, even if it doesn't work in the end.

I realize the Okert has had some rough outings in the past month, but he's also pitched reasonably well at other times. Are the Twins that down on him that they think Blewett, or maybe another arm in AAA, will be that much better? Hey, I hope they are making the right decision, but with so few arms available at this stage in the season I'd hesitate before DFA-ing a guy that may still be useful.

Okert since the All Star break:

11 gms, 7.1 IP, 8 ER, 6/5 K/BB ratio, 3 HR allowed - 9.82 ERA (9.31 FIP) .367/.460/.700 (1.146 OPS).

He's a LHP who does well against LH batters, but with the 3 batter minimum teams PH RH batters and he gets knocked around

Granted, Okert has not been good and should be on the bubble, but why DFA a guy who has been on the team all season when Richards has been just as bad and has only been with the team for a month?

We have a lot to show for our off-season acquisitions. Nobody is even on the roster at this point.
