Or...Jeffers can know where Frelick is in the box and back up a step.  If I'm working the plate and I see a catcher a bit too close, I'll warn him to back up a step.  The catcher backing up a step shouldn't (if the ump is any good) affect a ball/strike call.

Frelich was the same place he was all game. With his back foot on the back line of the box. (Like 90% of MLB hitters.)

So was Jeffers.
