Teflon Verified Member Posted September 26, 2023 Posted September 26, 2023 As of 9/25 the Twins have 222 home runs, only 2 behind the AL-leading Angels. It's conceivable that the Twins could end up leading the American League in long balls with no individual player reaching 25 home runs on the season. What a testament to this team's depth. Twelve players have reached double figure homerun totals with a distribution that looks like a sample for chart design: 23, 21, 20, 18, 17, 15, 14, 14, 12, 12, 11, 10. (RBIs are even more freaky: 65, 62, 52, 49, 48, 42, 42, 40, 39 ,38, 38, 35, 34, 34, 32) Richie the Rally Goat, FlyingFinn, Doctor Wu and 1 other 4
GusGus11 Verified Member Posted September 26, 2023 Posted September 26, 2023 Yeah its been impressive depth. Hopefully we find other ways to score runs next week too and timely homers still come with it. As far as leading the AL, I think itll end up being Rangers. They have a game in had on us and LAA and 2 games on Tampa. Plus a lot to play for still

This suggests that losing one player may not have a huge impact. Unless that player had 15 homers and 52 RBI in 58 games. Richie the Rally Goat, Doctor Wu, RpR and 2 others 3 1 1

sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted September 26, 2023 Posted September 26, 2023 Just looked... You were only looking at the Angels as leading us by 2. Now 3, as they hit one today. And is it worth mentioning that Texas was 1 ahead of us and got 4 today? And Tampa is tied? So we could definitely take it with a burst at the end, and may be nominally be facing pitching to make it more likely. And i wouldn't mind if we do. Anyway, i been paying attention to Atlanta's assault on la Bomba Squad's mark. They need 9 with 6 games to go. Well, 8 to tie, but pretty sure they have higher aims.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted October 2, 2023 Posted October 2, 2023 We did in fact tie the Rangers for the AL lead in homeruns. And Atlanta merely tied the Bomba Squad. "Are you just fiddling around with me or what?" Craig Arko 1
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted October 2, 2023 Posted October 2, 2023 Ha, and the rest of the AL Central teams made up the bottom four most power-woeful clubs. Cleveland was last, 27 behind the next worst team in the majors and 39 behind the next worst AL team, KC. And all of them are middle of the pack or worse in terms of farm system rankings. A mediocre Twins team should be able to lord over this division for the foreseeable future, like they did two decades ago.
