Tough loss. Good game. I really like Herbert and you could argue he's not a top 5 QB in the game. Wish we had him.

Lots of missed chances and the last 30 seconds were a disaster but nice to see some kind of running game show up.

I agree. Kirk is a 9 year full time NFL starter. That is not a guy that should be hand held on what to do in a last minute drill.

If Kirk doesn’t give the FO a list of teams he’s interested in getting traded to this week, we know he’s just in it for the money and comfort. And we should run for the hills after this season. 

I disagree on trading JJ and firing Kwesi. If Kwesi is a guy prepared for the role, he has a plan for a scenario like this where luck swings in the opposite direction. Which includes trading Hunter, Cleveland, Osborn, etc. I am seeing out his and KOC’s 4 year contracts at the minimum if he takes a QB in the 2024 draft.

I legitimately thought the Vikings were winning this one up until the play at 0:35 when Kirk didn't realize he had to spike the ball. I expected a chaotic back-and-forth game that would end with the Vikings winning by one score, and they certainly should have. The defense is bad but Flores doesn't have the players needed to run his scheme effectively. The offense has no excuses, they were playing a bottom 5 defense that suffered multiple more injuries and they had two golden opportunities and squandered them. 

I am no longer considering O'Connell an above average coach, getting beat by a poorly coached Staley team was an embarrassment. It's starting to look like 2022 had a lot more luck than involved rather than I thought it did.

Rebuilding success would be based on drafting well. Unfortunately the last few drafts have been dreadful. I would maybe give the GM one more chance at drafting before I say goodbye.

Kwesi’s first draft is borderline historically bad - like 2005 Vikings class bad right away. That’s not typical, so if you’re willing to give them 3 draft classes to assess, that should be 5 NFL years to build up something. All of a sudden you’re 7 years in like Derek Falvey and you’re back to getting good press because the rest of the division gave up winning.

I think it’s time to give play calling duties to Wes Phillips for the rest of the season and see how he does. If he isn’t good, then it’s looking like Stefanski is going to be fired in Cleveland and I’d be happy to bring him back in the offseason.
