Larnach isn't a future piece, he's shown that now. I mean, he might be, but I don't think we should assume he will be. I know why he's up for this short time, but why not take a chance? You want a 40 man move? You really don't see any player that can't be taken off the 40 man? Really?

Yes, I'd rather a guy that MIGHT be a legit 3B be up, rather than a known utility guy. Farmer hasn't hit all year, so no idea why you'd argue that he's the right guy there. They are going how many weeks w/o a starter at 3B? Castro isn't hitting either. Both those guys are backups for a reason.....

Can absolutely call guys up from AA if they're deemed ready and better than the options playing there now. 

I don't know that I see a 40-man roster player that I would drop to add Prato. I'm sure there are pitchers or something, but not position players. 

I'm not saying Farmer is 'the right guy' there. He's a very nice utility guy. Same with Castro. Both are better than Lee defensively there now. Offensively, It's probably close. But we also assume Lewis will come back. Maybe Miranda's still in the picture.

I'd be fine with them calling up Lee. I'd be very excited. Would be fun to see what he could do. I'm just not sure why that would be the move right now.

DFA gallo Not a hard choice at all.....doesn't matter I guess. It's clear they are willing to play with a clear backup at 3B for a month or more, during a pennant chase. And with Sands in the bullpen, but never pitching. I made my point, sorry for the off topic posts.

Lee and Severino should be promoted. I'd prefer either even in Minnesota at third, but at least ST Paul....

I see other teams promoting guys, even from AA.... Meantime, here? Wallner is clearly better than Gallo.....

Keirsey should be long gone from Wichita too. It's not like the Twins are swimming in CF options.

Maybe this is optimistic, but I keep coming back to "switch-hitting Justin Turner" as a comp for him. Not necessarily a superstar/perennial MVP candidate, but just a super solid-professional hitter that you can plug into the 3 hole for a decade.

.275/.375/.475 (.850 OPS)

K%=15%  --  BB%=10%

20-25 HRs and 35-40 2Bs 

Obviously that's a 75th+ percentile outcome and he has to prove he can do it at the big league level, but I look at what Lee is doing this year versus what Turner has done for the past decade, and I think the similarities are pretty clear.

Decade? Turner is 38 years old.

How can anyone ignore Plato’s performance in AA this year? Put it with his AAA and he is near his career norms. Slash stats take a long time to stabilize. More than a season. I hope the front office is not making decisions primarily on the 2023 stat line at AAA.

I think people have been clear....we don't know if he's unlocked something. We know Farmer and Castro aren't starters on a playoff team (or, really, a team trying to make the playoffs for a month w/o a starting 3B).

Willi Castro has 1.4 fWAR which is second on the Twins. He has very good defensive numbers at 3B. He really helps with his base running. They could do a lot worse filling in at 3B.
