And this all part of the conundrum of our FO, who I largely like and agree with. They seem to be very progressive, and look at the big picture, and the future, while also being just blinded to certain stats that don't measure up, and have a veteran, scholarship tendency. Despite what's right in front of their eyes, they seem obsessed with "what if" scenarios. They trust some young players, but seem afraid to remove a poorly performing veteran because he MIGHT unlock his potential, even if he's 30 or over 30. Blinders or pride, IDK. But they need to get out of their own way once in a while and keep moving forward. Being stagnant does no good.

Falvey and his constituents are a very process oriented bunch. To me, it has always felt as though they will go to great lengths to not make a reactionary decision or do something significant that may alter the course they have planned for themselves for the sake of avoiding unfavorable outcomes. Now, this is a very good way to approach many situations, including life itself, as it more likely than not will produce more favorable situations for oneself, but when you are managing a baseball organization that is hyper analyzed day in and day out by thousands of people it will eventually be expected that you make a high variance move. I think it is good that Falvey and company are big picture oriented and don't do things on a whim like, say, Jerry DiPoto, for example, but it nonetheless makes the majority of fans upset when things are going poorly and they just sit there and do nothing in the name of the process.

NO - what else needs to be said?  127 ABs 44 OPS+

Personally, I think Myers performance with the Padres last year is a better indication of the player he truly is, but I could obviously be wrong. It wouldn't shock me if Myers has fallen off a cliff similar to Kolten Wong and Mike Zunino.

Not a day goes by where I don't think about what this team would look like if they still had Spencer Steer not to mention Christian Encarnacion-Strand waiting at Triple-A. I agree though, I just think Myers could be the right-handed hitting corner outfielder/first baseman this Twins team needs. Also, I think Myers is better option than Kyle Garlick at this very moment.

Let’s start with a day, then gradually work up to two days and eventually a week.  If you can do a week, you can do a month. Soon, you’ll be able to join us, in the future times.

Back on the topic, sure, pick him up in the no such thing as a bad minor league deal kind of way. Waiver claim, no way. What is better about him than Garlick?

Also, IL for kidney stones, yikes. I’ve been hospitalized with a stone but two days after clearing the blockage was normal. Might be a roster helper IL stint.

Pretty clear to "most" that Gallo and Kepler need to be moved... ASAP.

Both are MAJOR liabilities with the bat. Their defense is good but not enough to make up for their lack of

quality ab's and lack of production.

We have internal options for their replacement so unless getting a "major" upgrade... no need to use assets.

We shall see.

I would add Berrios.  But we all know he did not want to be here with this dumpster diving/hope and pray team in the prime of his career.

Oh really? I didn't know that about Myers.

I had to look it up, he was playing fortnite five years ago and didn't realize it was a recorded stream and ripped his manager to shreds. Pretty dumb but not really disqualifying.

Historically, Myers has been better than Garlick in every facet of the game, except maybe hitting against LHP, which Myers is good at. Myers is a better overall hitter, fielder, and has more defensive versatility than Garlick. If Myers is willing to take a minor league deal similar to Dallas Keuchel, that is something the Twins should invest in.

The Berríos trade is still an open case. I think Martin and Woods Richardson will become contributors for the Twins in the near future, but we will just have to see if they ever become above-replacement level or even replacement level for that matter Major League players.

Perheps the Twins can work out a straight swap of Kepler for Myers? I'm not sure why the Reds would make that swap, but it's worth inquiring.

I'd like to have him in place of Kepler. He really has smashed LHP over the past few seasons, to the tune of an OPS+ of about 140. That would be quite valuable.

He is an absolute butcher in the OF, but as a weak-side platoon player, I'm fine with that.

Why do we always have to do this?

It was announced earlier today that the Reds released Myers, so the Twins can either sign him to a major league contract or see if he will accept a minor league deal.

the best way to learn would be up here in the majors

Then what are the minor leagues even for?

Historically, but he was DFA for a reason. Garlick is better now.

If it's a minor league deal, I don't see why not. Picking up his current contract, no thanks.

Veteran reinforcements in Saint Paul has very little downside at this point in the season.

The FO has built the team to win this season. So, I have a hard time seeing them trading away Kepler or Gallo and adding Myers would make sense. Plus, we only get to enjoy this pitching staff for this season.
