I have to call a no way on that. It was not at all intentional. Look at the video and watch the pitcher’s reaction. That is not the reaction of someone who wanted to hit anyone.

Then he has no business pitching inside because he has no idea where his pitch is going. Too much of this in MLB today.

I was surprised when they did nothing after Farmer got it in the face vs Chicago. Intentional or not

I’m not even sure he meant to pitch inside. He didn’t have good control for sure, but no way was it intentional.

Giolito has hit several players trying to pitch inside. He has no idea where his pitches are going and should be held more accountable. Or his teammates should expect to "wear one" once in awhile.

I call BS. If his control is that bad, then he should not be in MLB. 95+MPH can really hurt somebody.

He batted leadoff almost all of that season. You go ahead and figure it out from there.

Extrapolation OUT from there his HRs are still solo no RBIs stat padders. GUY doesnt make runs.

Yeah but he has a WPA of 1.0. That's really good

Then I call BS to your whole premise on this. It wasn’t intentional. Pitchers sometimes hit batters, especially when trying to throw as hard as they can. And retaliation should never be a thing.

I disagree that retaliation should never be a thing. When a team loses the services of a player for weeks sometimes months due to hbp international or not. Someone's wearing one

Take this any way you want to, but our "best" player took a pitch to the ribs and had to leave the game, and will probably miss at least a game, if not the rest of the series, and our pitchers did nothing. I saw the pitch, and it looked like a straight up I'm gonna hit you dude. No warning to the pitchers or the benches given. Granted, none of Cleveland's big hitter's came up in the 5th, but Kwan or Ramirez needed to be brushed back in the 6th. Call BS if you want, but it looked like a blatant HBP and needed a response.

Rameriez nedds to be thrown at period.

Listen, I'm really tired of people being intentionally ignorant of metrics. You can look it up, the same as me.

WPA is purely an offensive metric.

Win probability added. So in other words it's like crypto currency. NOT REAL.  Hmmm. Let's see. If this happens then maybe that happens. But but  but. I don't know. I'm just intentionally ignorant. No baseline to measure. Variables change like the weather. Go watch Brian Kenny.

It takes 100+ years of baseball and gives a win expectancy based on previous outcomes in that situation. It's not magic, it's based in actual baseball history.

And it's not concrete. Just last year the Twins turned a triple play that's never happened in MLB history. I don't remember the guy who hit it to Buxton.  But how is or was that AB measured? It's like expected batting average. 99% of the time that 1 instance is a hit. But not that time. And Santa and the Easter Bunny have been around for over 100 years too.
