I guess Luplow was actually optioned, something he had to approve, so he was never off the 40-man.
jorgenswest Verified Member Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 Do the Twins need a pitcher who can give them length tomorrow that won’t be on the playoff roster. I don’t think Ober will go deep into the game. I wouldn’t use Varland more than an inning. It might be telling if Funderburk is used multiple innings tomorrow. I think I would bring back someone on the 40 that can throw 80 or more pitches to protect the rest of the pen if Ober has a short start. I don’t know the rules but if they send out Funderburk in the regular season he has to be out 10 days. He might be needed in the second series. DFA Keuchel? Hosken Bombo Disco 1
Rosterman Verified Member Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 Would you swap out Keuchel right now for the last game and add back who? Winder? Sands? Headrick? At least to piggyback on Ober? I imagine a couple of these guys are travelling with the current team, or working out abck in Minnesota. No Gordon or Alcala means Stevenson and Ludlow are safe. But, remember, the Twins still have 28 players and two immediately have to go after Sunday's game. They would still be playoff eligible going forth, though.

I don’t know if any of the non-injured pitchers on the 40-man are in Minneapolis, Denver or headed home. Correa is a lock to be activated, it seems likely that Lewis will, too. Adding two back from the injured list makes it 30 players, so four would have to be subtracted—two or three pitchers and one or two position players.
jorgenswest Verified Member Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 I am looking for another pitcher to on the roster game 162. This won’t impact decisions about Correa or Lewis.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted October 7, 2023 Author Posted October 7, 2023 I presume the announcement of active rosters for the ALDS and NLDS is coming within a half hour. Bailey Ober will be added and someone needs to be taken off the active roster. My guess is Funderburk, although it could also be Paddack or Stevenson. Also of note, I believe the Twins have to activate Gordon from the 60-day list today. That will require making space on the 40-man roster. Keuchel and Gallo are free agents with little chance of being activated for coming series.
JDBrocks Verified Member Posted October 7, 2023 Posted October 7, 2023 Ober for Funderburk, no Buck. FlyingFinn and USAFChief 2

They've been making moves on it but keep leaving it at 39.

He can no longer be on a minor league rehab but players have started a rehab in the past and then discontinued it staying on IL.

I do not know if all the rules apply in postseason. jorgenswest 1
