That had to be tough for Morneau to watch. Soler sliding into second and taking a knee to the head... Flashbacks to 2010...

Yeah, the Twins have had epic injuries to the head. Morneau and Mauer, and of course Kirby's eye sight loss.  The image of Tony Conigliaro and the his pic on the sports page is sickening.  Ben Chapman, though, paid the ultimate price.

I think you meant to say Chisholm...it was Jazz Chisolm that slid into 2nd and hit Farmer's knee. Soler hit the homer after that.

Missed strike three on Sanchez and improper call of strike three on Taylor.

Umps always out to get Minnesota teams.

That's fine for everyone around here, it's not how a manager should actually run his team, though. Unless you're suggesting this lineup is just going to be so great against Luzardo that the game is out of reach by the end. I'm going to go ahead and say that isn't likely. Because it's almost never the case. And Luzardo is an awfully neutral split pitcher. He's not some lefty specialist.

As I've said multiple times now. I want my best hitters getting the most at bats in every game. Trevor Larnach is currently a clearly better hitter than everyone on this team not named Buxton, Correa, or Miranda. It's those 4 and everyone else. A Solano/Gallo platoon is not a better hitter than Larnach right now. A Farmer/Gordon platoon is not a better hitter than Larnach right now. Jeffers isn't a better hitter. Willi Castro is absolutely not a better hitter. Trevor Larnach in the 8 hole doesn't make sense for any of the 9 innings, my guy.

Just my 0.02 cents. Its not like Larnach is some established MLB hitter.  He doesn't even have 500 MLB at bats. Of which outside of the past five games he's been pretty mediocre.  He's had 5 superb games this year.  I choose to wait and see with him.

This game has a similar vibe as the one last night. Both pitchers are dealing and our guy made one mistake to give the fish a 1 run lead. We need to figure out how to get something going against Luzardo. He's blowing us away right now.

it's one thing to be agressive at the plate, it's another thing to be a little more selective and go with the pitch.  Twins hitters seem to be overswinging, and helping out a pretty good pitcher.

Him being superb right now is all the more reason to leave him where he is. Willi Castro isn't some established MLB hitter, or, if he is, he's established as a bad one, but he's hitting ahead of Larnach today. I'm totally on board with the Twins using the numbers and data to help drive decisions. But this game is happening right now, not last year. Solano has done nothing in a Twins uniform to deserve to hit in the 3 hole today. I don't think that's a winning move.

I'm not fitting Larnach for his HOF jacket or anything. Simply saying he's currently one of the Twins 4 best hitters, and I don't get why you'd put him in the 8 hole today.

Twins couldn't score against Zack Grienke, Jordan Lyles, or Sandy Alcantara either.

The big game they had in the series opener is the exception, not the rule.

Someone tell me why the Twins would give a roster spot to Willi Castro.

Because Polanco and Kirilloff are hurt.

Member when we were arguing about going after Lopez or Luzardo?  I'd take either over Arraez.  Wonder if hes still available.

We’ll see how they look against Houston and NYY… So far, this team isn’t giving me the warm and fuzzies. I think scoring runs is going to be a consistent challenge for the offense.

What should we do about it?

See ball.  Hit Ball.

Agreed. It's not just the lack of runs that's concerning to me - it's the strikeouts. 9 K's through 5 innings, that's 60% of their outs coming by the strikeout.

Not only does it appear they'll be challenged offensively, but also they don't seem very fun to watch. I'd rather see the Twins get no-hit and make contact as opposed to strike out 10+ times per game.
