That's a deal I wouldn't have minded the Twins handing him if he'd have taken that to play here.

DAMN! Why does it seem like we're not even in the mix for anyone other than Correa? Bassitt is the kind of guy that we should've been looking at. At this years FA prices, that's a bargain. Another pitcher gone.

If the Twins think they are getting a really good pitcher,  either for fewer years or for fewer dollars or at a lower age, I don't know what to say. Age 34, 35, 36 seasons seem to scare our FO, and maybe I should be scared too, but this particular guy has a track record that I think suggests making such an offer.

I agree with the above posts. This seems like a deal that would have fit the Twins current payroll situation. High AAV for fewer years. Of course, maybe  he just didn't want to play in MN.

In terms of a comp that we are all familiar with, Bassitt has been better than Berrios the last few years, but is only getting half the guaranteed money.

I was really keen on Bassitt as a trade target for the Twins last offseason, and still liked him as a free-agent target this offseason. However, if the Twins are shopping in that rough tier of starters, I wonder whether they might have been more interested in Eovaldi to begin with. A year younger, has had some health stuff recently but that might make him a candidate for an incentive-based deal. It seems like, for better or for worse, that could be up the Twins' alley.

Seems like a team supposedly trying to win could have beat that offer..... disappointed in the twins.
