mikelink45 Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 The pitching is getting slim and might not be worth the Twins efforts, especially with Rodon asking for seven years. The Giants signed Manea according to Yahoo Sports - two year deal. View full rumor

What are the Twins doing? Besides Rondon and Bassitt, I don't think there are starters out there that warrant a rotation spot ahead of what's already on the roster. Manaea was the ONE guy I could see adding to that mix, but he's old enough now that I think the chance of hitting his upside is about worn off; the most likely outcome is that he's a back of the rotation arm. Plus, with Walker and Taillon getting obscene contracts, this kind of smells like Manaea may have preferred to go back to the Bay Area instead of taking a better contract elsewhere. terrydactyls Verified Member Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 The shelves are nearly empty and all the Twins have done is talk. Time to act. Offer Correa 13/$390M and offer Dansby 10/$250M. First one to accept their offer is our new SS. Then use the remaining budget (plus a little extra) to sign either Bassitt or Eovaldi, Duvall and Narvaez. If neither Correa or Dansby sign, Farmer is then crowned the interim SS and additional acquisitions continue. A successful off-season is now complete and spring training is coming soon.
Muppet Verified Member Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 Looking at Manaea's numbers. Looks like Twins dodged a bullet there. Same as last year when they didn't trade for him at the deadline. SwainZag 1
SwainZag Community Moderator Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 I would much rather one of the younger guys get a full chance in the rotation than spending $12.5 per year on Manaea. He would slot in behind Gray, Ryan, Mahle and Maeda. Give Ober/Varland/SWR/Winder those innings. nicksaviking and roger 2
roger Verified Member Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 Is it possible the Twins are happy with their starting rotation and the young arms about ready to step in should there be a couple injuries? Is the only real interest in adding a starting pitcher coming from many of us that have zero involvement in running the team? AceWrigley 1
