It would help if our BP understood the letters to mean bullpen rather than batting practice,,,

Indeed ... but ... while giving up 3 runs, they didn't give up the lead ... this time ... and we still won by 4 ... ahhhh ... perspective :)

Moran got the first 2 outs and then walked the next 2 batters ,,,

This seems like a common occurrence  with our bullpen ,,, duffey , pagan  too ...

Why does this happen ????  ...

I believe the strategy is that, with fewer than two out, base runners are the danger, while with two out and the bases empty, it is power that threatens a scoring event.  I think it is typical to see more nibbling at the strike zone with two out.

Ryan gave up a triple, then a single and a run, then got a couple outs ... and was about to face someone who was 2 for 2 against him ... while I get your angst about how the game has changed, in this case, I think pulling when he was pulled was the right decision. It's not always my choice in other games, but this game, and that's what this thread is about, I don't think the argument for not pulling him holds up as well.

But "some guy reading a boxscore on his computer" says so.

Could you show me the line where I said other teams have a different philosophy? The facts, as you mentioned, are i compared what the Twins pulling Ryan compared to 39 yeasts old Justin Verlander. You are correct in the complaint about the average start, however.  And as an HOF baseball guy told me, "those decisions are made upstairs by some guys that never played the game and only know baseball through their computer". He is correct and it had taken away from the game. There would be no great 91 game 7 in today's game.  Morris would have been pulled in the 4th because some stat head who never played noticed that Loonie Smith hit .404  in his second at bat against pitchers named Jack while pitching in domes.

1991 was 31 years ago.

A lot of things have changed.

You're comparing a rookie pitcher to a 1st ballot HOFer who has two decades of built up stamina and arm strength. If you want Ryan to be conditioned enough to make noise in the post season, you'll probably want to pace him now.

And if you think that's a new "stat head" idea, I guess Tom Kelly's a computer nerd too, because while 36-year-old Jack Morris had free reign to go as long as he wanted into Game 7 of the 1991 World Series, Joe Ryan's analogue, Scott Erickson got pulled after 4 innings in his one ALCS start, 4 2/3 innings in game 3 of the World Series, and then went all the way to a full 6 innings in the do-or-die Game 6.
