Who should start Wednesday?

I'd like to see Ryan.  But they may not bring him up at any point this year so they can not build up his service time too early.  That's the Twins way.  Go as cheap as possible and hope fans don't notice lol

I don't think it's a service time issue at this point, I think it's a 40-man roster issue, in that the Twins have too many players to shuffle through in the here and now before they're forced to make some tough decisions after the season.

There is no evidence of that with this FO, other than Buxton. Also, Ryan is just back from the Olympics, and they've said he'll get a few appearances in St. Paul to get acclimated to the Twins before probably being in MN.

Do you think they might reconsider now that the Thorpe experiment failed?  It's unfortunate Winder is injured or fatigued.

I would have left him ion St. Paul for at least one more start and started Gant. Looks like Gant tomorrow. So pushing everyone back? Time to call up candidates and go with a six-man rotation for the remainder of the season and using someone like Thorpe in long relief, or maybe as an opener if you need be, for Ober or Barnes.

At the beginning of the year, who does he replace on the roster? You may be right, but I'm curious if you think there is a starter he should have replaced at the beginning of the year.

Cave probably on the roster. As far as starting I wouldn't say he would have replaced any of them. Arraez would have moved around the field. Plenty of AB's for all.

I can't see them sitting him, rather than starting in AAA. But, I could be wrong, freely admit that.

Probably. Kirilloff was called up the day after the threshold to qualify for a full season, but it's not like Buxton who was kept in the minors to end a season when he had already been playing to get an extra season after his rookie year. That said, Sano had just gotten hurt, Buxton was D2D and Rooker was hurt.

and Kirilloff was horrid in Spring training.  So, do we think it's competent management to bring up a struggling prospect to sit on the bench?  He also did not have the kind of stats other corner OFers / 1B who skipped AAA put up.

So the Twins figured Kirilloff was fixed after 6 plate appearances in AAA? Yes, the Twins have arguments as to why Kirilloff was held down the exact number of days (16) which would ensure he was prevented from earning a full year of service in 2021 under MLB rules. Given the standard practice across all baseball is to manipulate your player service time in this fashion, the fact the Twins have committed far worse and blatent service time manipulation and have a reputation for for beating down their young players in arbitration years, it would be hard to argue the Twins didn't start Kirilloff in AAA 90%+ because of service time.

Show me another corner OFer or 1B with equivalent AA stats that skipped AAA.  You also failed to leave out the fact that both Kirilloff and Larnach were brought up before they were completely ready because of injuries.  Does service time play into it?  Sure.  It just amazes me fans want them to ignore service time How would it be competent to sacrifice a year of control in a players prime for a couple weeks when they are unproven and struggling?
