Time for Minnneapolis and Twins to Drop Outdoor Mask Mandate.

Outdoor transmission is less than 1% (some articles will say less than 10% - but the actual estimate is under 1%).  The State and Feds have ended the mask mandates for vaccinated persons outside and inside.   The Twins may disagree and still somehow feel there is some scientific justification for masks indoors (in bathrooms and inside area of “Legends” Club, in the bar areas ...  ). But it’s time to let the vaccinated fans enjoy the fresh air outside rather than wearing our portable Metrodomes on our faces.  Mayor Frey and Twins leadership: please decide before I go to Tuesday’s game.   Why muffle the few cheers this team will get this season?

Outdoor transmission is very low, which is why I no longer wear a mask while just walking around because I can keep my distance from people, but the one huge caveat to outdoor mask wearing is that outdoor transmission is a very real problem when you sit people next to each other for long periods of time… you know, like at a baseball game. Crowded areas with immobile people is like the only time you really need a mask outside. It’s mostly not a problem otherwise.

How would they determine who is vaccinated?

The one thing I’m certain of is that the people most likely to go maskless are the people least likely to be vaccinated. For my part, when I attend a Twins game I will continue to wear a mask in such settings.

Your wish has been granted.

One day after announcing a phased increased of attendance, the Twins are removing their mask policy at Target Field, starting immediately.

The team will still request that fans wear masks around the ballpark while not eating or drinking, but it will no longer be mandatory.

Masks are still required for indoor areas.

Ugh. I don’t love this move, as I have tickets for tomorrow’s game. When I got the tickets, it was 25% capacity with a mask mandate. Now the tickets are for 60% capacity with no mask mandate. Blech.

If people are not ready to go maskless, then they can continue masking up. There are enough precautions in place to finally start feeling and looking like normal again. This is a good thing!

I’ve been debating myself when I’m ready to go maskless in certain places that allow it since I am vaccinated. At the gym I go to they removed the mask mandate a couple of months ago. Now I’m seeing the ratio from 80/20 masked/no mask at the beginning to 20/80 mask/no mask. I’ve been doing so because I go with my best friend with a pregnant wife, just in case. But we have been asking ourselves is it time to take them off? Everyone will be different after what we went through over the last 15 months.

I’ll be breathing the fresh air I have enjoyed at Target Field ever since it opened - I’ve been immunized by Pfizer.

No, you are not immunized. You are vaccinated. Getting a vaccination does not immunize you from contracting the virus. It lessens your risk.

Everyone, please keep your comments related to baseball. If you want to talk about the virus or the vaccine, there is a thread in the Current Affairs club to do so.
