Very interesting.

If this obstinate doofus in anyway made some of the players think it's acceptable not to get vaccinated, this firing should have been done six months ago.

I don't see why not, but it seems all the guys they've put 1 year fliers on have went down in flames (Michael Floyd, Kendall Wright, Josh Doctson, Tajae Sharpe). DeDe Westbrook seems like the next logical name in that line... others available include Larry Fitzgerald, Alshon Jeffery, Danny Amendola, and Golden Tate.

None of those guys were terribly exciting, but to be fair to them, Cousins NEVER looks at the #3 receiver.

The only time he does is when the #3 receiver gets promoted to the starting lineup due to Thielen getting injured.

And I'm not in the locker room, so maybe it's not Cousins, maybe it's the game plan, but seems to me every year it goes:

Option 1/2: #1 or #2 WR

Option 3: RB

Option 4: TE

Option 5: Sack

It gets better:

It looks like they're lowballing him... and on top of Rodgers quitting on the team, Adams has to be very upset.

I have no interest in being fair to the Packers, but if I were to be fair, I'd probably suggest the Packers won't have the cap room to give Adams what he wants if they end up giving Rodgers what he wants.

So signing Adams probably would signal waiving the white flag on Rodgers, which it looks like they still don't want to do.

I really hope this kicks off two decades of the Packers being bad, but never quite bad enough to be able to draft the top QBs in the draft.

There are several Vikings who are not going to like this...

Should they add a 3rd Wideout? IMO it wouldn’t hurt.

It's getting buried under the Dennison news, but here you go:

Like to hear it. Hopefully it happens.

Also, Dennison is gone?! The guy who seemingly has this man-crush on the worst G in the league?

The Vikings will end up forfeiting at least one game, imo.

If they can't field a team due to COVID-19, they forfeit..... And many of their leaders are anti vaxxers.

Oh I see. There is still time to get vaxxed, so we’ll see where we’re at come training camp. Hopefully getting anti-vaxxer Dennison out of there helps.

I like the DeDe news, not so much because I think Cousins will throw to him in the slot, but because it's insurance if Thielen or the kid gets hurt.  We're paper thin at WR.

And good on the Vikings to act decisively on Dennison.

Which leaders? So far I’ve only heard Zimmer and Patrick Peterson, who were pushing players to get the vaccine.

Cousins and Thielen..... cousins is, well, I can't say what I'm thinking.

Not surprised about Cousins I guess. I can’t recall COVID questions with him, but other things he’s said would fit that mentality.

Thielen should have been cut, not restructured. My parents live in his hometown; also not surprised. It’s 75% conspiracy nut jobs there.

Harrison Smith too.

Looks like they’re going to sign former Jags WR Westbrook to a 1 yr/$2.5M deal.

Thoughts?

It's a nice move for depth, Westbrook is a decent receiver and should be better than Bisi and Beebe.

He could be the kick returner and they could utilize him in 3 WR formations.

Nwangwu should be taking back kicks, or else I'm not sure why they spent a high 4th on him. I'd rather let Westbrook be the 3WR and not worry about him getting hurt on a kick return.

I stand corrected. Use him on 3 WR formations.

You're not completely wrong; Jacksonville did use him as a punt returner, but only as a backup kick returner. But after spending a 4th on Nwangwu and a 5th on Smith-Marsette, I'd think those two will be getting the KR and PR reps.

Do they still need to sign a kicker?

Greg Joseph looks to be winning the job, as UDFA Riley Patterson was reportedly struggling in OTAs and was absent from minicamp.
I suspect they may turn to the waiver wire if both struggle in the preseason and camp.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Packers are expected to restructure Aaron Rodgers' contract to address his grievances with the team while setting up his "departure from Green Bay after the season."

Schefter noted that this isn't a done deal yet but it would be surprising to see things fall apart at this point. It's a truly wild situation as Schefter also added that the new contract would address some of his "issues with the team" but didn't elaborate further. It would void the final year of his deal and allow him to leave by preventing the Packers from using any kind of tag on him. Lastly, the new contract would not give Rodgers any more money but would free up some cap space for Green Bay to spend this year. It's a bizarre situation and the lack of any new money, if true, would solidify the fact that Rodgers' dispute with the team was based exclusively on philosophical differences. More info will come and clarify some of the oddities of the deal but, for now, Rodgers is back with the Packers for another year.

I gotta say, after all the drama and speculation, this is a disappointing outcome. Now we're back to the outcome we expected before draft day - Rodgers plays one more year in Green Bay, and then gets traded.

Aaand Dennison is back under some compromise.

I've gone from excited for this team to completely disgusted in very short order.

What was the point in all the off season activity if they were just going to hamstring themselves with all the Covid protocols? Ridiculous. Spielman needs 100% compliance with this whether that involves mass persuasion or mass termination. If he can't or won't, he needs to go. Shameful.

Dennison coming back is a ****ing joke. He needs to be gone, and now.

Sure, I wanted Dennison fired for his poor job as an OL coach, but I think a transition to a consultant-like position makes sense for both sides. I don't see the point in being offended just because he's being kept around in a role that won't put the team at risk.
