Now this isn't a science but trade simulator gives Buck a 18 and Merrifield a 32. Gonna have to give up more than Buxton to get that deal done...

You're right. An all-star who leads the league in hits and a .300 hitter for a guy who sits on the IL.... Twins would say no.

Gotta go ahead and say the Royals would say no...

You are leaving out two very key statistics.

Whit Merrifield d.o.b. 1/24/1989

Byron Buxton d.o.b. 12/18/1993

No way do you trade the best defensive center fielder in the majors who can hold his own at the plate and is approaching his prime years for a player who is approaching his declining years. Silly at best.

Regardless of age, Buck can't stay on the field. Even his shoulder that felt great and was giving him no problems put him on the IL. Guy can't stay healthy. Merrifield is the type of player who has a better chance of playing a high level at 30+

Dude is only 31 years old. I'd make that trade every day, and twice on Sunday.

Dude is only 27 years old. I'd make that trade every day, and twice on Sunday.

Thank God you’ll never have that chance

That's fine. I would not.

I would like getting Merrifield on his insanely cheap deal, though not sure if he would be great at CF and would rather be a LF/RF, and we have enough of those in the pipeline. And yes I'd swap Buxton for him in a heartbeat.

Buxton has not proven he can stay healthy in any season. Merrifield has.

Buxton is younger, he MAY be approaching his prime. Unfortunately that's an assumption for now.

Merrifield has 6 steals this season, what about our super fast Buxton?

Merrifield is an ideal leadoff man, Buxton is batting 9th. Enough said.

Merrifield becomes your 2b...
