Patrick Wozniak Verified Member Posted February 29, 2020 Posted February 29, 2020 https://blogs.fangraphs.com/zack-littell-on-his-two-sliders/Interesting piece over at FanGraphs where Zack Littell discusses the two different sliders he used in 2019 and the possibility of adding a third(!) in 2020.
by jiminy Verified Member Posted February 29, 2020 Posted February 29, 2020 Wow, it sounds like he can make it break sideways, downward, and anything in between, and tunnel them all. That would make it very hard to barrel up! I am going to be watching his pitches' movement closely this year.
Doctor Gast Verified Member Posted February 29, 2020 Posted February 29, 2020 WOW! w/ that type of arsenal, wouldn`t he be better suited as a SP?
FlauerPauer Verified Member Posted March 1, 2020 Posted March 1, 2020 WOW! w/ that type of arsenal, wouldn`t he be better suited as a SP? He didn't cut it as a starter in AAA or MLB. Reliever is his role. Nothing shabby about that, as he can be a pretty good one if he continues where he left off last year.

bird Verified Member Posted March 1, 2020 Posted March 1, 2020 More strong evidence that we've entered a new era when it comes to development expertise. The question is whether the Twins are ahead of the curve enough to provide a competitive edge. Littell is exactly the kind of deadline selling that I want to see from this FO, every season.
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted March 1, 2020 Posted March 1, 2020 WOW! w/ that type of arsenal, wouldn`t he be better suited as a SP?I love sliders, but he throws them +50% of the time as a reliever, starters can’t do that or they’ll blow out their elbows. I also don’t believe his off speed pitches are very good. I think the bullpen is his place going forward, and I’m fine with that. I think he could end up being a multi inning, back of the pen monster.
