I do friendsgiving every year and usually bring a side dish along with a turkey to put in the fryer.

 

For the last few years I've brought green bean casserole, and while it's SAFE and traditional, I want to mix things up.

 

What are some of your favorite Thanksgiving side dishes?

I'll find some, if I can. We recycled most of our old recipes when we moved....

 

Roasted brussel sprouts... My wife heard a news story that they've been growing them sweeter as the years go on.

 

A three later potato dish.... That was great.

I do a dessert one that is a huge hit that's a pretzel crust with strawberry gelatin (along with sliced strawberries) and a whipped topping. In the fridge long enough and it's a solid cut dessert, and it goes over huge. Gives options for those who are not pie fans.

Yes! My mother makes this every year and it is a huge hit, especially among my kids. They insist that she make it multiple times throughout the year. I believe the whipped topping is a combination of Cool Whip and cream cheese.

The original recipe I have calls for whipped cream and cream cheese, but I've put together one I can make with my wife, who can't do dairy, present.
