Walters: Falvey and Levine are keepers, keep reading

As per usual, Walters gets interesting with his blurbs at the end of his column. Take it with a huge grain of salt.

Quote: It used to be forbidden for baseball clubs to trade within their division, especially between rivals. But no more. At least that’s the way the Twins view the possibility of adding Cleveland starter Trevor Bauer for prospects, of which the Twins have plenty. end quote.

Fascinating idea. What say you? How much to pry away Bauer? Would you pull the trigger?

Minor would be a good get instead. Bauer could play with his own Bregman Bobblehead doll in Indians uniform.

I cannot imagine Cleveland willing to sell. If Bauer was an option, I'd certainly look closer... Personally, I'd want Brad Hand from there though.

And if they're looking in the division, well, Matt Boyd is on the market.

the more I think of it, the less I like trading w/ Cleveland. Cleveland could trade one of their 5 starters for hitters and remain very competitive.

I like Boyd and Detroit is a lot further away. Not nearly as competitive the next couple years.

Too much off the field baggage.  No.  Thank you.

He's not Ugueth Urbina, for God's sake.

Although I really have no faith that Baldelli would allow Bauer to pitch deep into games.

They will trade for hitters, whether or not we choose to participate. :) Question is whether you want to have one of those pitchers such as Bauer, when Cleveland obtains those hitters, or some other team have him while we locate someone else.

Is Charley aware the league has instituted a wild-card into the playoff format? Does the Pioneer Press still publish the standings?

agreed, but more bidders drives up the price, doesn’t it?

If the Twins were to pull off a trade for Bauer, I’d be very happy about it. I’m just not stumping for it.

Fair enough. Bid, but try not to win, is a strategy. :)

but then Cleveland gets better prospects?....hmmm I guess if your competitor for Bauer is ChiSux that’s a good strategy

I had half a beer for dinner with my burger, so I'm not going to try to defend my post.
