Joe Mauer's press conference just concluded. 

 

Holy emotional. Was great to see and watch. And it was very cool that so many people where there. Former teammates like Corey Koskie and Glen Perkins. Twins alumni like Kent Hrbek, Tim Laudner, Jack Morris. Former coaches/managers like Joe Vavra, Ron Gardenhire, Paul Molitor and Tom Kelly. And the GMs, Bill Smith and Terry Ryan, who Mauer was most emotional thanking (other than family).

Thanks, Seth, for putting these clips together, especially for those of us not local to Twins Territory and this is no more than a blip, if even that, in our local press. I'll watch this when I'm home tonight otherwise I might start crying at my desk at work.

I saw on Twitter (cant remember who posted it) that this is like seeing your dad cry. Joe has always been so stoic and even-keel, that seeing him get emotional is tough. 

 

I shouldn't have watched that live at work.

It's interesting that I didn't know that Perkins and Mauer were childhood friends until the day Joe announced his retirement.
