Kennys Vargas Signs With Chiba Lotta Marines

Former Twins 1B/DH Kennys Vargas has signed this morning with the Chiba Lotte Marines in Japan.

I've seen reports that the deal is worth $1.5 million - $2 million. Could be $1.5 million with incentives that could make it $2 million. I'm not certain.

Glad he's finally found a home to make more money than he would in the MLB. He could be a folk hero overseas with his power.

Correct. It's the best place for him right now. No one is signing DH-only types at this stage, and he wouldn't come anywhere near $1.5 million in the states.

This move should have happened at the beginning of last season. Maybe he can make a return like what has happened with others who went overseas to figure things out and get the playing time they need to shine.
