Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted October 13, 2018 Author Posted October 13, 2018 Looks like the Dodgers went with a righty-heavy lineup for LHP Gonzalez, so now RHP Woodruff gets to face a lot of righty batters. Or the Dodgers have to start pinch-hitting, which they already did (Muncy for Freese), but that will leave them vulnerable if the Brewers switch to another LHP like Hader (who has already started warming), or if they just want to pinch hit for their own pitchers. Very much not traditional SP usage, but very interesting nonetheless!
Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted October 13, 2018 Author Posted October 13, 2018 Woodruff's spot comes up again, with runners on 2nd and 3rd and nobody out. Brewers pinch hit Domingo Santana, who promptly delivers a 2 run single, knocking Kershaw out of the game with the Brewers leading 4-1 in the 4th. Counsell is looking pretty good this game so far!
Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted October 13, 2018 Author Posted October 13, 2018 Successful challenge by Counsell leads to another run, 5-1 Brewers.

But, hey, he's pressin' the right buttons tonight. Edit: face palm, it was runners on 1st and 2nd but there was a passed ball, so 2nd and 3rd is not really a bunting situation ...Double edit - double face palm: the runners advanced on a fielding error on the batted ball of the previous hitter. I'm following the game but multitasking too. I'll shut up now.
Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted October 13, 2018 Author Posted October 13, 2018 Dozier leading off the 6th as a pinch hitter... ...and is retired on a foul pop up to the catcher.

mnfireman Verified Member Posted October 13, 2018 Posted October 13, 2018 Not impressed by Machado "Cadillac-ing" it to first, not just once but twice in this game. Post-season should be 100% effort 100% of the time. He's gonna get paid, but I am not a fan.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted October 13, 2018 Posted October 13, 2018 Last night's game, Milwaukee pitchers were 1-2 with a HR Today's game: 2-2 with a double. So far.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted October 13, 2018 Posted October 13, 2018 stunning that Counsell would go back to Jeffries yet again. He's had a terrible postseason. His arm is either shot or he is tipping pitches, yet there he is again.
ashbury Verified Member Posted October 13, 2018 Posted October 13, 2018 Home plate umpire is having a solid game. Completely in line with the Fox tracker, and getting no arguments from players.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted October 14, 2018 Posted October 14, 2018 What in the heck, Joe West. Couldn’t get out of the way for that? Are you on the Red Sox payroll?

Squirrel Community Moderator Posted October 14, 2018 Posted October 14, 2018 that was hard to believe....What a doofus. Either he had a real 'deer in headlights' moment or he just can't react and move very quickly. Although looking at it in slo-mo made it look worse ... but still ... what a doofus. Thankfully it didn't affect the outcome of the game.
S. Verified Member Posted October 15, 2018 Posted October 15, 2018 he just can't react and move very quickly. Never would've guessed with that physique of his. And what a surprise, David Price is sucking it up in the post season some more.
Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2018 Author Posted October 15, 2018 And what a surprise, David Price is sucking it up in the post season some more. Hey, his team got the win! Although he came up 1 out short of qualifying for the "win" himself. I'm sure it was mentioned a lot during the broadcast, but for those like me who didn't watch last night, it's worth noting that prior to yesterday, Price's teams were 0-10 in his postseason starts. Now up to 1-10!

Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2018 Author Posted October 16, 2018 Those that like starting pitchers going deep into games: the Dodgers let SP Buehler bat for himself, with a runner on 2nd and 1 out in the 5th, down 1-0. He struck out, and proceeded to give up a run in the 6th, and 2 more in the 7th. Dodgers down 4-0 at the moment. Buehler at 100 pitches through 7, due up 4th in the bottom of the inning, so I imagine he is done for the night.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted October 16, 2018 Posted October 16, 2018 Maybe the Dodgers should try starting Dozier tomorrow night, maybe he would do something to shake them out of their funk.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted October 16, 2018 Posted October 16, 2018 Counsell coming back to Jeffress. I’m guessing to get his head right for later in the series, if needed.
