sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 The Great American Game Thread Intro Call me Ish-male. Some years ago, i found myself betwixt and between, not knowing what to do with myself. And somehow i found myself unconsciously drawn to crack of the bat, the cheers of the crowd, feeling the irresistable urge to chase after a ball as it hurtles through the air much as a canine retriever might. Not knowing what i was doing, i signed up to write a game thread for a motley bunch of game threaders, who probably wouldn't terribly appreciate me likening them to fictional characters from an ancient Melville text. But i won't stop them from identifying themselves as such. Together we searched the diamonds for the mythical big bat what could wreck stadiums with single swing, although single was rarely the result. But of course, this season our ship sunk, and only i remain afloat on coffin whose dedication is to spoiler alerts. TwinsKyle Gibson ( R) 1. Joe Mauer (L) DH2. Jorge Polanco (S) SS3. mickeymental Verified Member Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 twins should play vikings. either sport.
Winston Smith Verified Member Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 I suppose everyone is glued to the Viking's game, eh?They sure know how to make it interesting...At least the Twins can't look as bad as the Vikes today can they?
yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 At least the Twins can't look as bad as the Vikes today can they? They have at times. Just about any series against KC for example.
IndianaTwin Verified Member Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 On the bright side, after today the Twins can't have any more walk-off losses this season!

Nine of twelve Verified Member Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 It's always a bit of a melancholy feeling when the Twins' season ends. But one thing I'm really looking forward to is that after 8 days from now I'll probably never again hear Marney say "Pizza Ranch for the win!"

But one thing I'm really looking forward to is that after 8 days from now I'll probably never again hear Marney say "Pizza Ranch for the win!"Too bad Mr. Pizza doesn’t do ads on Twins games. Now THAT is great pizza. Of course, they hardly need to advertise. They already do good business.
yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 Is it my imagination, or was Kepler’s swing more compact in that at bat than it typically is? Could that be the suggested adjustment to be able to use all fields and force defenses to not shift which will open up the right side when he does pull the ball? Hmmmm. We shall see I guess.
Winston Smith Verified Member Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 Twins could out score the Vikes today.
Nine of twelve Verified Member Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 Molitor knows the Twins need to try to win this game because of the fact that the A's have not yet clinched the postseason. Otherwise he wouldn't be running Gibson out for the 8th.
Nine of twelve Verified Member Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 Very nice win. We actually outscored the A's in the series. Glad to see we played them tough.

We shall see I guess.I had heard earlier in the year Kepler was not a big fan of launch angle, etc. He felt his game was more suited to line drive hitting. Perhaps he was right?
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted September 24, 2018 Author Posted September 24, 2018 Winnah. And we didn't get walked off. What a novel feeling...
