speaking of degrees, 20 below or 22 below is still cold but relatively the same thing.

Exaggerating the degree of incompetence doesn't strengthen the case. We're not in arctic temperatures while the rest of the league basks in sunshine.

46 degrees above zero versus 44 might be the difference in my deciding to wear shorts for a hike, especially if the forecast is for rising temperatures the rest of the day.

Anyway a single incremental improvement won't move the needle, but a succession of them can, and you can't have a succession if you refuse to do the first one.

adding a succession of mediocre players still leaves you with mediocre players. 10 increments of .01% better really does not make you better.

Over/under July 31, 2019 when Jon Kemmer is called up?

Sometime this year almost surely. Sure would be interesting if the Twins starting OF ended up including this guy and Cave. The PCL likely inflates his numbers a bit but it looks like he knows how to draw a walk which is basically Grossman's only skill. Swap them out now as far as I'm concerned.

He has also this advantage over Grossman: I believe he has a minor league option (probably 3, as he may never have been on a 40-man roster yet) remaining. Grossman has to be exposed to waivers when you want to try someone else, while Kemmer can collect frequent flyer miles on the Rochester Shuttle if that's the preference for the rest of the season.

Yes, Kemmer has yet to be on a 40-man roster, thus he has never used an option. Which means the Astros must consider him a thorough non-prospect to deal him to the Twins.

I believe the Astros also sent Grossman packing when he had an option left. JD Martinez definitely did.

Mostly I just like when the Twins aren't on the thrifty end of the "cash considerations" deals.

Maybe 4th on their list for outfielders in AAA, likely to lose as a minor league free agent after the season. They got somebody named Tucker who is supposed to be pretty good. Derek Fisher has bounced between AAA and the majors. Then there is the guy they promoted. A little cash is better than nothing for a player.
