Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 Seems a bit on the low side but eh, whatever. Right now, I'd put this team in the 84-85 win range. Regression from Santana, improvement by the bullpen. The offense holds pretty steady overall. Add Darvish and my projection jumps into the high 80s.
Dantes929 Verified Member Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 I am ok with this. Play well and you can increase that number. Play poorly and you get what you deserve. Biggest thing I always fear is a start like 2016 where it felt like they were out of it after 10 games. Give me 41 wins at the halfway point and I think I would bank it. As least from right now we can dream that Santana will be in good form and maybe May and Sano as well to give us more than 40 wins the 2nd half.Say what you will about Kintzler he really did well for us, especially early. I do not have as much faith in Rodney to produce the same results which mitigates the general improvement of the pen.
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 All things being equal, 81 wins sounds about right to me. But in the AL you've got 7-8 teams that don't look like they're trying this year. I think the new trend to tank is probably going to mess with projections until we have more data on the prerogative.

I'd bet on the over on their projections, and put them around 85 wins as well. I just can't see them playing that many games against poor competition (KC, DET, CHI) and not be over .500. And of course if Darvish is added, I'd feel really good about a WC berth at least.
Nine of twelve Verified Member Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 If the AL played a balanced schedule I think 81 would be close, maybe even slightly high with Santana's situation. But I still look at 57 games vs KC, CWS and Det and think they could get to 90 with a little luck and a couple better-than-expected seasons by the right players.
Kelly Vance Verified Member Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 With Darvish it is possibly 90 wins and #1 WC..Without, likely 82-83 and on the outside looking in
Kwak Verified Member Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 At least everyone has forgotten 2016.
Doomtints Verified Member Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 Landing near 81 is a fair assessment.
Platoon Verified Member Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 Given the division 82. But so many variables still in the wind. Sano and Santana and the SP. Lots of free games to be had in this division tho.
