Glen Perkins appreciation thread

First round draft pick, Golden Gophers star, Minnesota born and bred. Glen Perkins had an excellent pro career, working his way quickly through the minors, he was a good starter, but really hit his stride as an elite closer.

.

I remember those early years on the major league team, when the big debate was whether to keep him as a starter, due to his strong arm, or convert him to a relief pitcher. I think they made a wise choice. Very solid career!

Jaime?

Adam Wilk! Chris Heston!

Those, I'm not so sure about. :) My understanding is that the final 40-man roster all gets rings.  Maybe a guy like Heston too who was removed from the roster but finished out the season still in the organization.

But different teams do things differently -- the Red Sox gave one to Nomar Garciaparra even after they traded him midseason 2004.  Let's hope we can have that debate about Kintzler soon. :)  And of course it gets even more subjective when you get to non-player personnel.

Yes to a ring. And yes to Ryan AND Smith. They had a hand building this team and the players involved.

And yes to the Calvin Griffith's estate.  He moved the team to Minnesota.

I think he would be a great guy to continue to be a part of the organization in some capacity.  I just want hear him talk to the media.  He was always honest and open.  I think there should be a role there for him somewhere.

One of my favorite all-time Twins.

Glen Perkins was the Kent Hrbek of this bunch. He is going to be dearly missed on the playing field.

I hope we see plenty of him in a different capacity from here on out.

Huh, I thought this was a thread to appreciate how great Glen Perkins was......and he was great there for some time. Really great.

Don't let this distract you from the real reason for this thread:

Will Jamie Garcia also get a ring?

Will Jamie Garcia also get a ring?

If he loses the wild card game for the Yankees, give him a ring for each finger...

And yes to the Calvin Griffith's estate.  He moved the team to Minnesota.

Almost a relevant comparison.
