This comes down to that absurd strike zone. Inning was over.

Just like Mauer's double, etc. You can't tell me there wasn't a rep from th commissioner's office in the umps ear before the series. No way they're letting the Twins come here, win the series straight-up, and risk the chance of the Twins/Angels dramatically knocking the Yanks out. Also, that series with Boston needs the drama.

 

I get a bit edgy too about this stuff. My friends think I'm a crazy conspiracy theorist and laugh when I say stuff like this. But there might be something to it.

 

The umps aren't willing to risk making bad calls against the Yankees. So instead of risk calling a borderline pitch a strike, they call it a ball. They sleep better at night knowing their calls didn't hurt Big Baseball.

Those last 2 ABs by Escobar and Rosario are what frustrates most about playing these MF'ers.  If a Yankee hits the flare that Escobar hit, it drops in.  If a Yankee hits the ball that Rosario hit, it's in the first row of the bleachers.  It's like the old leprechauns at the Boston Garden...same mystique has been cast over the Twins when they play this piece-of-garbage franchise.

Another runner stranded on third with less than 2 out. It's kind of amazing, really.

 

They've been doing it all year, in bunches. They had the bases loaded with 0 outs in the 1st, don't forget. That was the real chance the Twins had to take this game. Coming out of that inning with a 1-0 lead was the death knell.
