One would think Perkins could have have time to really get himself in shape with all that time off. I see his neck beard made it through the rehab.

Why are we wasting innings on a 90mph throwing Perkins? Don't we have any guys in the minors who could benefit from some major league experience?

 

He's cooked. There is no way, with his stuff, that he can be an effective reliever without a mid 90s fastball.

From Gibson, to the baserunning, to Sano trying to barehand a ball that he didn't need to, to fake bunts that get runners picked off second, to Molitor's questionable bullpen usage, to hitter's squeezing sawdust out of the bat handle they're so nervous every time there are RBI opportunities, it's been a...wait for it...total system failure.

I'm really rooting for Perkins, and I know he has tried his absolute best to work his way all the back here, but you just don't come back from that kind of injury. I know he wants to earn that $6.5M salary but it's just not gonna happen.

Shame on me, and shame on all of us who got excited about that 2nd wildcard spot.  We'd given up hope and moved on with life...only to be tricked into getting our hopes up again.  Shame shame shame.
