Article on Kintzler on "The Ringer"

Vanimal posted this elsewhere, but I thought it was thread worthy. Kintzler is a fast riser in my personal Twins pantheon, and this article explains why.

"Kintzler knows how little wiggle room he has, and how steep the drop is if he falters. But he knows the grind too well to do anything but look over the edge and smile."

Kintzler is a guy that's grown on me a lot this year. I went from, "the Twins really need a closer", to "Kintzler is a pretty good closer". However if they don't think they can sign him at the end of the season, they really should deal him now, if they can get a decent return. I'd prefer they sign him for a few more years though.

When I was 12 I could dream of being Aroldis Chapman. Now I know I'm more like Kintzler. Speaking of both sports and life, of course.

He will play the free agent market, unless the Twins blown him out of the market with an offer of multiple years.

I wonder WHAT he could bring in return as a rental to someone. Who badly needs a closer?

I wonder how much money he'd command? I think he'd be worth resigning if he's not looking for too much $$$.

Y'know, not many people have been talking about this, but Terry Ryan's 2016 bullpen dumpster diving was a major success, finding Abad, Kintzler, and Boshers. That's a far better haul than what the current FO's dumpster dive turned up. (Not that I'm indicting the current FO of anything. I'd rather see them be good at major signings, not dumpster dives.)

Great article, I remember Kintzler when he pitched for the Goldeyes. Him and Jeff Zimmerman were the two best arms I ever saw with the Fish, you could tell they were different.

It was surprisingly evenhanded. Of course, the Ringer turned around and published an article about contender's needs, and failed to include the Twins. Keep doubting!
