6'7", I read. He'd look normal if Alex Meyer were pitching to him.

Or, if we're thinking in other dimensions, if Bartolo Colon were pitching to him.

The way they talk about him, I'd say he's at least 8 ft tall, carries an axe, has a big blue ox, and has an affinity for red flannel.

Oh wait, that's Paul Bunyan.

Is there a central California version of Paul Bunyan?

I usually defend Molitor, but it is ridiculous that he has Granite hitting 2. Is it a cry for attention at this point?

Yeah, I don't get why someone like Rosario or Kepler isn't hitting in that spot. Granite isn't exactly lighting things up right now. Reminds me of Buxton in the #3 spot early this year.

I don't know why they aren't hitting and running with him. How many times has he actually swung and missed?

It would be pretty big for this team if Mejia could have the best start of his career tonight. Good start so far.

Rosario is hitting 30 points higher than Dozier. In terms of OBP, Rosario is reaching base 1 fewer time for every 100 ABs.

It is curious.

Are Bremer and Blyleven really this dense? They understsnd that activating Colon will require a 40 man move, right? It won't be Granite or Vargas. They could activate and immediately DFA Breslow. DFA Belisle. Couple guys down in AAA could be DFA. Turley maybe. It almost certainly will be a pitcher.

This is a rhetorical question....right?

That was a very difficult foul catch by Mauer.

I know he's an easy target with his bat, but we would NOT be where we are without his glove. The left side of our infield has been given a huge boost with Joe at first not to mention the many other plays he's made at first.

imho.

I am waiting for someone at SS who is as dependable as Buxton is in CF*. Adrianza had a difficult chance on that play, but not impossible.

Luckily, he got an opportunity to atone immediately, with a tailor made DP ball.

* Or Mauer at 1B, I should hasten to add.

I don't dislike Vargas, so I hope this isn't taken as a knock on him. But the difference between Mauer's defense at first and Vargas's is day and night. I know there's not much of a positional adjustment for 1B according to WAR and the like, but Mauer has been very, very impressive over there.

Granite seemed very unperturbed by that high inside fastball. Maybe a little too cool about it, as close as that one came.

Nice that the ball had eyes for him when he put it in play.
