sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted July 8, 2017 Posted July 8, 2017 1) Home. The batter starts there. And a run is tallied when they return safely. Why all the running about? Well, for one thing, it wouldn't be much of a game, i guess. Why's it called home? I don't know. 'Cause it's shaped like a house, leastwise as viewed from the field? The Twins' home is Target Field, and they have not had the best luck there. I could say something self-depricating about being gracious hosts or something, but that is neither here nor there. Feel free to discuss it, though. Twinsdaily hosts these here game threads. That doesn't quite do them justice. I think it is a better characterization to say this is their home. I am grateful for all the effort what goes into taking the trash out, and the fridge stocked, but more so the community aspect here, and i know they are strongly connected. 2) Loss One can lose more than just a baseball game... I'll try not to complain too much if i do. But that bein' said, in the immortal words of Fezzig "I hope we win." 3) Leading off. I hope people were paying attention last night. Just because their first batter hits a home run... Or for that matter, the second batter too... don't mean the game is over. I would like to draw an observation from that. Just because i fail to write an interesting or thought provoking game thread, don't mean it won't be worth reading or participating in... 4) Run everything out. Going with out saying isn't as bad as saying with out going... 5) Out of everything... Including ideas of what to say here. Well, not strictly true. I got plenty of things on my mind these days... and there may be a place and time for everything, and well, i'll keep looking i suppose. Orioles Wade Miley (L) 1. Joey Rickard ( R) LF 2. LaBombo Verified Member Posted July 8, 2017 Posted July 8, 2017 What is the current state of the Granite? New Hampshire is the Granite State. Was that helpful? I'm guessing no.
ashbury Verified Member Posted July 8, 2017 Posted July 8, 2017 Sooo... last night we had Gimenez playing when a righty was pitching, today we have Castro catching with a lefty on the mound. Strategery?
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted July 8, 2017 Author Posted July 8, 2017 New Hampshire is the Granite State. Was that helpful? I'm guessing no. In the fine art of being ambiguous, that was kinda what i was driving at. Who's motto by the way is "Live free or die" But if someone actually answered that Zach had arrived at Target Field and was shagging flies, available off the bench. Well, that would have been both helpful and a perfectly valid response. So strictly speaking. Yes. that was helpful. It reduced the need for and increased the ease of explaining myself. It is a good talent and requires practice despite its discouragement as regards humour.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted July 8, 2017 Author Posted July 8, 2017 Sooo... last night we had Gimenez playing when a righty was pitching, today we have Castro catching with a lefty on the mound. Strategery? Most probably. Perhaps they are being framed?
Don Walcott Verified Member Posted July 8, 2017 Posted July 8, 2017 I'm happy to see Polanco get a rest. He looks like he needs it. I'm hoping he comes out of the break playing a lot better. Full-Time SS duties as a rookie must be mentally challenging.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted July 8, 2017 Author Posted July 8, 2017 Whatcha know. MLB's free game of the day.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted July 8, 2017 Posted July 8, 2017 Sooo... last night we had Gimenez playing when a righty was pitching, today we have Castro catching with a lefty on the mound. Strategery? It's the ultimate compliment to both of them. Molitor's saying with his actions that his catchers' defense is so strong that it's the sole reason for their presences on the roster, as their offense is so negligible that platoon splits can safely be disregarded altogether.

Huddy Verified Member Posted July 8, 2017 Posted July 8, 2017 Sure it's not due to the matchup? Two 'ACE' southpaws. Amazing matchup
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted July 8, 2017 Author Posted July 8, 2017 Better start than yesterday. Leastwise the top half of the first inning.

Don Walcott Verified Member Posted July 8, 2017 Posted July 8, 2017 Molly is trying to trick Showalter. It's working! Showalter looks confused . . . or maybe just the way he always looks.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted July 8, 2017 Posted July 8, 2017 Better start than yesterday. Leastwise the top half of the first inning. About the only good thing that could be said of it was that the other eight Twins on the field with Jorge didn't appear to suffer any permanent damage from rushing to his aid.

Molitor's saying with his actions that his catchers' defense is so strong that it's the sole reason for their presences on the roster, as their offense is so negligible that platoon splits can safely be disregarded altogether. That's the awesome thing about baseball. That entire paragraph is relayed to others by actions. Last night... Paul went Nose Chin Nose Chin Nose and then touched the brim of his cap and that means... "his catchers' defense is so strong that it's the sole reason for their presences on the roster, as their offense is so negligible that platoon splits can safely be disregarded altogether". If Paul would have went Chin Nose Chin Nose Chin and then swiped his left arm... that would have meant hit and run.
Don Walcott Verified Member Posted July 8, 2017 Posted July 8, 2017 Beto looks good today. Has everybody pitch working.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted July 8, 2017 Posted July 8, 2017 Molly is trying to trick Showalter. Just wait til tomorrow. I get the Coyote's plan of making it look like a tunnel with the hope of the roadrunner running full speed into the rock. That's fine. My problem is going to be with the Arizona DOT who built a two lane highway that led into the side of a mesa.
