Auto Play, Auto Sound ads are back

Once in a very great while I also encounter an ad that presumes to use sound without permission. I don't know how to specify the circumstances - it's usually in another tab and by the time I locate it the ad has switched to something different that's not misbehaving. It's under the control of the ad agencies, so barking at Brock without any specifics seems pointless.

Though, it would be helpful to be reminded of one or two simple diagnosis steps to take, such as right-clicking on the offending ad and choosing "copy link location" or whatever, to paste into a post here.

I have sent screenshots and links plenty of times. Nothing ever changes, at this point I'm prob one of like 3 people who doesn't run any adblocker service, this nonsense is making me close to doing it.

I don't run any kind of blocker service. And of late, am rarely bothered. There was that Patak's ad, which I supplied screen shots of, and now it seems gone. Every so often I hear a blip of sound, but it is immediately silenced. Again, it hasn't been a bother for me on any device ... phone, tablet, desktop ... for a while now ... Patak ad aside. I'm on Apple products with Firefox on my desktop and Safari on both phone and iPad.

There's a sound ad for Nationwide that keeps popping up ... I never see it and it doesn't usually get past 'Na ...' or 'Nation' or sometimes 'Nationwi ...' before it goes silent, but that little bit is still annoying. I think it's in this spot where there are video ads running:

Brock ... that same block of ads is doing all kinds of sound ads ... now I'm getting a Schwab ad and it's jumping my page up to the top ... very annoying.

It's sad that they clearly have no desire to fix this.

I'm pretty sure this nonsense drives new users away as well.

That same ad unit that Chi mentioned is now going non stop on mine.

There seem to be two ad blocs that are really wreaking havoc today ... at least for me:

This one

And this one

And then there's this one, too ... it's like the same as the 2nd one I posted above, running concurrently in a lower position. These video/slide show ads really slow things down and muck up the works. I don't want to be a pita about this because I know you work on this, but these are really not good:

Still going on. Just crashed my computer browser for the 100th time

Clearly the owners of this site don't care. Not one single response from ANY of them.

Autoplay ad with sound for some kind of Crohn's Disease malarky. While the ad's playing, the screen pretty much freezes up. Thus difficult to locate on the TD page, but I think I did a screen capture of it - it's the ad on the right:

Here is another "black hat" ad service. Upper right, below the TD banner. It yanks control away and brings me back to the top of the page. I think this has been reported before.

Yeah ... both that one and the little one do that to me. I've been in touch with Brock about it who has been trying to eliminate these things, but he also doesn't have the same nuisance things pop up as some of us do so it's difficult to pinpoint. His response:

"I've sent multiple messages to our ad manager about it. Next time you see it, click on the link. Send me the destination URL."

In the meantime I've been stopping the pages here from loading so I can read in peace.

I need to start stopping the pages from loading all the way, too. Firefox keeps crashing, and only when I come to this site. If I can stop Flash fast enough, it usually works ok.

I used to be good at diagnosing computer memory leaks but when using a browser that has so many add-ons I am out of my depth. Nonetheless, when I'm on TD the memory footprint of Firefox itself just keeps growing and growing the longer I am on, and eventually I have to start over. Firefox bug, or something bad in the ads, or maybe something in the TD site software, I haven't a clue.

In the area on the right where you see a turtle swimming, there was earlier a Whirlpool appliances ad that began running with sound without my having run a cursor over it since the window wasn't currently open.

I just ran into an ad by Dell that started spewing electronic music all over my room. :)

It's the ad on the right. Presumably that tells Brock which agency is involved.
