Here's something for the stat geeks to check: When was the last time a team had two different players hit 40 HR in consecutive years?

Are you meaning like having Dozier last year and Sano on pace for this year? Or two guys each year?

If the former, I suspect it's pretty common. Encarnacion had 42 last year and Donaldson 41 and Bautista 40 in 2016. Trumbo had 47 last year and Davis 47 the year before, etc.

Byron Buxton now has a career low K% at 31.5%.

Given his start, that means he's been striking out at a lower pace the last month or so... That's probably more encouraging.

"The record for the longest streak [of appearances without a decision] to start a career, since 1913, appears to be 62 games by Michael Tonkin of the Twins. He had 62 games with no wins, losses or saves before he won an extra-innings game in 2016."  -- SABR digest June 21.

Buxton has two problems this year.

1) Chasing fastballs: When it comes to fastballs, he loves to swing at pitches that are low and away but can only hit a fastball if it is right down broadway.

2) He has a .100 batting average v. "power" pitchers who are no doubt exploiting #1.

This, too, is coachable, provided #1 isn't a sign that he can't see the ball.

Regarding him playing much better as of late, he was improving in May and through the early part of June, but he his performance has declined a bit over the last week. Not saying I'm concerned, but pointing out that he's not fully baked yet.

No. Dozier hit 40 last year. Sano could get to 40 this year. Like that.

Gotcha.

As already noted, the Orioles have had 3 different guys in the last 3 years.

Here's some others I noticed looking at the history of 40+.

1929 - Babe Ruth and Mel Ott

1930 - Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig

1931 - Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig

87/88 McGwire then Conseco

93/94 Williams then Bonds

94/95 Griffey then Buhner

96 - Griffey and Buhner

97- Griffey and Buhner

98 - Griffey and Rodriguez

99 - Griffey and Rodriguez

Rodriguez and Palmiero then did it twice in Texas in the same season, 01 and 02.

Carlos Delgado paired up with Shawn Green and then Tony Batista in back to back years, 99/00.

As of about 6:00 today, there have been more HRs (122) hit at Target Field than any other park in MLB.

There were only 116 HR's hit at Target Field in the entire 2010 season.

I think that says a lot about the evolution of baseball thought...  you're seeing more and more dead pull guys.

That, or the concrete has finally settled.

now that I think about it... is there a Twins pitching affect that works kind of like park affect?

As the minor league season winds down among the Twins first 8 pitchers selected this summer the highest ERA is 3.38, pretty sure the Hunter Greene hype train would still be rolling strong had he put up a 3.38 ERA.  For the record Greene didn't pitch this year but did hit .233 with zero homeruns.

Greene actually pitched twice. Wasn't pretty.

Twins have played more doubleheaders (6) than extra inning games (4).

This one didn't last long.

From August 8th through yesterday, Eddie Rosario has a .959 OPS and a .284 BABIP.

His career BABIP is .327.

Too many home runs, he needs to slap it around a bit more.
