Nunez traded

This looks like a good trade. Great job Anthony. Lefty to boot and good stats, especially pitching in the PCL, a hitters league. Nice SO numbers, I'd bring him up and send Milone packing. Finally a lefty that doesn't have to nibble at corners.

That's mean.

Meaner than saying that the trade makes Antony the new front runner for the real GM job?;)

Does this mean anything who might be traded before July 31? Is it possible getting young starting pitcher close to major league ready possibly mean Santana could be dealt?

I'd rather hope that either Nolasco and Milone are gone first.

I like this trade. Good first step.

And with one move, Antony solidifies himself as the next GM of this ballclub.

Nah, by all accounts they are bringing in someone new to be GM, but Antony likely will be kept around in some role.

20 says there's an attempt at least approximating 'Able-dirto'.

$20 says the 1st 20 times he pitches for the Twins we hear the same sentence repeated. "Mejia, originally signed by the Giants out of the Dominican in 2011, came to the Twins in a trade for Eduardo Nunez. Mejia throws a fastball, change, curve..."

Don't forget Duffy.

But yeah, good trade here. Lets get Berrios and this new fella pitching in the majors ASAP.

I would be shocked if Antony can trade Nolasco.

Milone has no real value either, he is a DFA waiting to happen IMO

I'm surprised how bummed I am to see Eddie go. He was a fun ballplayer to watch. I hope he gets a ring.

As far as the new guy... I don't think you can expect much more of a return for Nunez. Seems like a nice move by Antony.

I was careful with my wording. I didn't use the word trade. And what I said was in response to someone suggesting ESan was possibly next.

No one wants Nolasco and Milone could get something back. He's also a candidate for a August deadline deal.

Yup. People have pretty wide variation in what they expect from a #4 starter, but the Twins mostly just need consistent 6+ inning starts to keep the bullpen from getting ridden so hard.

Pitching deep is one thing Mejia hasn't done. At least in the minors.

I'll wait to see him before lowering my pitchfork. We don't need more Tommy-tutimes Milones on staff.

Santana will be dealt. Miami.

As for this trade, twins did really good here.

Last time we traded for a young Dominican Lefty from the Giants it worked out pretty well...

DFA Milone, send Duffy down, assign Nolasco to be the full time BP pitcher. Profit?

Action of the trade front--I'm not certain this would have happened w/o a change in GM.

Too soo to call a great trade--Nunez was a rather productive player for the Twins, and likely would continue to be in the future.

Mejia is only 23, is 92 on the BA top 100 list and has been in the top ten prospects for the Giants for 4 years in a row.

This isn't Milone. There is plenty of time for him to improve his ability to pitch deep.

Love this trade.  Got young starter caliber pitching for older all star type numbers Shortstop\Utility player.  Now we can bring up Polanco and see what he can do.  Giants got a good deal as well.  Nunez can do it all offensively and he is pretty cheep to boot.  This trade should help the Giants  a lot.

Very happy with this trade.  Hope to say the same about the ones to come.

Argh ..l read what I was quoting. That comment of mine was in response to you suggesting this trade was setting up ESan being next. And I didn't use the word trade when mentioning Nolasco and Milone because I know better.

I think at this point the Twins could release Nolasco and eat his salary for the next two years and the fans would be ecstatic.

His lousy pitching now isn't even the biggest problem anymore. He's blocking Berrios and now will be blocking Meija. Next year add Meyer, and May potentially to the group. I'd say that's more costly than the $25-30 million the team still owes him.

Wow, seems like a decent return for Nunez, even though I have not personally heard of this guy. His numbers as AA/AAA this year look legit, striking out almost a batter per inning too. Who knows if he ever amounts to much as a big leader, but not bad for a guy like Nunez.

I really did like Nunez as a non-starter utility player and enjoyed the unsustainable first half, but didn't really believe in it at all. Plus, his defense is lacking. His has been pretty poor at the plater over the last month, and seemed to regress back into who he really is as a hitter. An older Rosario, no walks and BABIP dependent for success.

I thought his name was Tommy "Mayday" Milone and he was owner of the "Cheers" bar in Boston.
