Miguel Sano - Strikeouts as a weapon

Haha. Unfortunately Buxton forgot to also match Sano's immense power and ability to work a walk.

Which is why I remain unconvinced Buxton will ever figure out how to be a productive hitter in the majors.

I'm hoping for the best with Buxton but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't worried. Reports said he was super raw and talented coming out, and thus he got by on raw talent until he got to the majors. If he can learn to handle those bendy pitches he'd do great but unfortunately baseball is littered with guys who washed out for that same deficiency.

Buxton's strikeouts aren't like Sano's where he's working the count to get an advantage. He just doesn't seem to recognize good pitches yet. Hopefully he figures it out.

I will say that I have yet to really see any evidence that the two kids are frustrated or upset after a strike out.  Maybe it's confidence, maybe it's resignation, maybe it's apathy.  They've definitely got some Joe to them.  Goodness, I think I miss Arcia.  At least he showed he cared when he k'd or made an error.

I would think over time Sano's eye will improve as he learns what pitchers throw. Might not, but it seams reasonable.

One would think so... And, as unbelievable as it sounds, the guy is probably going to get faster and stronger over the next 3-4 years.

Dunno what his ceiling is but it's waaaaaaaay up there.

He sure used those three strikeouts last night as a weapon :-)
