How quickly we forget. The Astros were in the NL for all of his career I believe!

King Felix is a good one. 

It's too bad he's spent most of his career on putrid Seattle team's.  He's kind of a well kept secret out on the west coast.  I love watching him pitch.

Mike Mussina was pretty dang good too. He's at least on the honorable mentions list. 

Should be in the HOF.

If the question was related only to the Twins he'd have to be #1 by a large margin.  He owned this team.

I recall whenever he pitched against the Twins it was pretty much an automatic win for him. Just checked out his splits, and you're right, he was always a Twins killer. 

22-6 record, 3.09 ERA, 6 CG, 4 shutouts in 33 career starts against them.

I think I'd disagree, but I do think he's borderline at worst.  He was a perennial CY guy for almost a decade, but never won it I believe.  I wouldn't be shocked if he got in, but I wouldn't vote for him if I had a vote.

Me too. I don't know why but he impressed me as a youngster as much as just about any player growing up.

The hitter equivalent would be Thome when he was an Indian. Just destroyed us.

Despite that the first 3 I thought of after posing that question were Verlander, Halladay, and Greinke. I know I have a short memory.

Their numbers are similar, I'm wouldn't say Mussina is clearly better.  Glavine had 2 CYs and pitched 4 more years as well.

It's certainly a good talker.

They pitched in two different leagues.  They weren't competing against each other for an award that until recently was dependent so much on win totals (Bartolo over Santana in 2005) 

 

Mussina had a career ERA+ (5 points higher), better K/9 by almost 2Ks (even though he faced DHs), better BB/9, much better WHIP, much better FIP.  I can't think of one thing I'd say Glavine was better at other than his narrative of being one of the big 3.

 

Only thing Glavine did better was last 4 more years.

Tigers announcers speculating that they will take Verlander out so he doesn't have to face Mauer.  Long time since I heard that.
