extra innings or not, if the visitors are winning, the home team has to get another half inning or it's a suspended game, not an official game.

This isn't quite right either. It's a suspended game only if the visiting team has taken the lead in the top half of the inning that was underway when the game was called. So if the visiting team is leading after 5 and the game is called at some point during the 6th inning the visiting team wins.
