What are your opinions on Santana playing centerfield and Rosario in LF? In my humble and unqualified opinion, I would have swapped them last night. In the games I was able to watch In which Rosario played CF I liked what I saw. Great arm/speed. In what I have seen of Santana in center, including last night, it looked like he would do better in one of the corners. It's not a big deal, but in a game like last night it could've saved at least one run.

I was upset that Santana didn't lay out for the double that caused the first two runs. Rosario would have laid out for it. Buxton would have caught it while doing a pushup. Santana just doesn't have the time in the OF to time those right. That ball was tough but a better play should have been made.

Well, one thing to consider.....maybe they want Rosario in LF when Buxton is back. Therefore, maybe they want Rosario in LF now, so he gets better and better at it.......I think that is reasonable, frankly.

I'd prefer Santana not play for this team at all, but if he's going to, CF makes the most sense, especially right now.

I do agree, Rosario is probably a better CF than Santana, but I'm not sure TODAY is the only day to worry about.

They've got to play Danny while he's hot at the plate.

That double that he gave up was so frustrating though. He's got to lay out for that ball.

I'd play all 3 two out of three games...

                     LF/CF

Game 1 - Rosario/Santana

Game 2 - Arcia/Rosario

Game 3 - Arcia/Santana

Let them all play fairly evenly and see who takes off...

That's what I'd do.

I don't really believe in hot......he's just not that good.

Or just keep Sano at 3rd and they can all play.

I don't know the answer here, but once Plouffe gets back they should play with platoons as much as they can when figuring out playing time. Don't be sitting Arcia and Rosario against righties and don't be sitting Plouffe or Sano against lefties. So, maybe an outfield Arcia, Rosario, and Santana most of the time against righties, while mixing Sano and Plouffe at 3B, DH, and 1B for Plouffe sometimes (giving Joe or Park their rest days.) Against lefties have and OF of Sano, Santana, and Rosario, with Plouffe at 3B. Plenty of at-bats for everyone in that scenario.

Are people just assuming Plouffe will be back next week because that is when his 15 days are up, or has it been confirmed?

Because this is usually a 4 week plus injury and typically closer to 6.

Plouffe was on KTWN during the rain delay yesterday, he sure sounded confident of a complete recovery in time. FWIW.

I like it. Also gives some flexibility to play those that are on a roll and sit those in a slump. My only friendly amendment would be that you have to play Sano almost every day.

I should have clarified that, but figured starting Sano nearly everyday was assumed, while the others would be shuffled out depending on situation and circumstances at the time.

There is NO SUCH THING as an unqualified opinion on this site.....

OR

There is no such thing as OTHER THAN an unqualified opinion on this site....Whichever, keep on posting......................................

Saw it mentioned in each paper they expect him back when his 15 days are up.   Then saw this morning that he is being sent down to ft. meyers for a quick game or two down there and then will be back up mid next week

The pitcher-friendly Florida State League was VERY UN-friendly to Fort Myers Miracle pitchers today. Tyler Jay, Luke Bard and Brian Gilbert got their butts un-friended and handed to the by some Aliens from Jupiter.

That's what I'd do.

The way Escobar has come crashing back to earth, you could try Santana at shortstop again and there would be room in the outfield for everyone else (assuming you don't care about defense).

Sano looked pretty good at 3rd last night.  I'd sure like to keep him there.  Something's gotta give.  One other thing I noticed last night is that Arcia is hustling....yes, THE Oswaldo Arcia hustled down the line.  Gotta reward that.  I just feel like this wheel has a spoke or two out of place...not missing...just out of place.

My only nitpick is that Santana is playing in both scenarios. I wouldn't want Plouffe, Sano, Mauer, or Park sitting against right handed pitching, they're all superior hitters compared to Santana. If the OF is Rosario, Arcia, and Santana then 2 of your 4 best hitters are sitting on the bench. It could happen once if a couple of those guys really needed a rest but running out a lineup like that consistently isn't a good idea.

With MLB SS options as Nunez and Santana...I think I'd take Polanco in that case. But Santana seems to be all about playing well when it's not expected, so maybe he could still take off there.

DanSan is 9 for 25 with a .360 BA.  He's more than capable in his re-introduction to CF.  Only real problem right now is that 9 for 25 is also 9 hits in 25 PA's.  i.e. zero walks and other things that don't count as AB's.

DanSan was Horrible as a shortstop, but has played well in the OF.

If the alleged wunderkind had shown anything at all in his PA's, this would be a non-discussion.

Move Rosario to CF and DanSan to LF.  WHY? Just because you can?

Players from south of the border heat up as the temps get hotter.  There's still 140 games left.

Tbh I'm not a huge Santana fan either. I think he's an asset on the bench and with the injury situations right now they don't have a choice other than starting him. What I'm worried about is whether Molitor is capable of putting his favorite toy back in the bin when Plouffe comes off the DL. In fairness I think the main reason I'm not that into Danny is because of last spring. He was terrible for well over a month before Molitor finally caved and gave Escobar a shot. The love affair is reminiscent of the Gardy-Punto saga. I'm terrified that continues and Santana keeps getting the nod over better players. He's a good utility guy, but not somebody I want to see consistently starting when the team is healthy.
