I threw dirt on their grave a year ago and that was an inferior team (on paper anyway). Let's give the season time to no play out and just enjoy that baseball is back.

The OP was surely in reference to Adopt A Prospect forum, and not to the prospect of the team's chances of winning in 2016. :)

I''d be happy with people setting up Prospect pages for every minor leaguer. The Adopt-A-Prospect thing can be great, but each year, we end up with only about half of the prospects covered, even though they all deserve to be discussed, and then maybe half of the foorums were actually updated on time.

 

What I'd like to see if a forum thread for each player. Anyone willing to volunteer setting them up? We could take volunteers:

 

Rochester Pitchers:

Rochester Hitters:

Chattanooga Pitchers:

Chattanooga Hitters:

Ft. Myers Pitchers:

Ft. Myers Hitters:

Cedar Rapids Pitchers:

Cedar Rapids Hitters:

 

Then we can get to the Extended Spring players. 

 

I'd just like a place where we can post discussions, highlights, stories from the affiliate news papers or their home town newspapers. 

 

Thoughts? Volunteers?

I don't get why the change was needed......people discuss what they want to discuss. I'm hopeful we get some discussions going. 

I think last year many people adopted prospects then forgot about them and quit posting.  I took over on Stephen Gonsalves after he went to FM and hadn't had an update since his 2nd start in Cedar Rapids last year.  I like it this way.  Now anyone can go an post an update, or check out what others have posted on each prospect.

I honestly have mixed feelings about this. I think it's the way to go as few were adopted last year and even less were updated, but at the same time, I think there will be a little less order. I remember last year when everyone headed over to Tyler Jay's page to argue about whether he was a bust or not, I was annoyed because nothing was preventing them from posting in one of the several other threads going about him. But as long as it's constructive discussion and mostly centered on updates about the players' progress, I think this will be a good thing.

Actually, maybe a combination of old and new . . .

 

The initial "draft" of the prospects is pretty fruitful and that could clear out 40, 50, 60 guys. Taking volunteers *after* that could make this more palatable for people. I am still going to get around to the Chattanooga hitters, but man . . .

Okay ... I want to make a suggestion. I, too, am going to get all my players up. I had only planned to adopt Tyler Jay, Luke Westphal, and Todd Van Steensel this year, and fortunately they're all Fort Myers pitchers, but it's overwhelming to have to take a dozen or nothing. I'm still going to make sure all the Fort Myers pitchers get covered, but I'm going to go about that my own way unless TD ownership objects.

 

Fort Myers pitchers still belong to me and are my responsibility. However, anyone who wants to adopt one of them is welcome to do so. I have created pages for Luke Westphal, Todd Van Steensel, and Kohl Stewart so far, and I'm taking Tyler Jay, too, but the following are still available:

 

Luke Bard

Raul Fernandez

Brian Gilbert

Stephen Gonsalves

Trevor Hildenberger

Felix Jorge

Yorman Landa

Alex Muren

Randy Rosario

Keaton Steele

 

I will continue to create pages for these players, so if you want to adopt them you'll have to step in now.

 

ETA: I'd be more than happy to take all of Fort Myers if that's what it takes to keep Adopt a Prospect going. It's my favorite feature of TD, and it's going to be a sad day when it's gone. :(

I'm guessing I'm probably the best option for EXST as I live here and try to make it to a game a week.  I'll just post my article in here then :)

This way at least every player will be represented.

We are almost into May and there are 3 prospect pages, and one of those is Luke Westphal, a 27 year old in High A.

Seth, you obviously have a vision for the Adopt a Prospect sub. I for one am lacking in practical understanding of it, maybe you can clarify what exactly you want volunteers to do?

Initiate a new thread for the players so that they can be discussed. The first entry should have typical stuff about the player. How he came to the Twins, a little background, prospect status, maybe some video. Then we can add on from there in the threads.

What I really don't like is now we will lose our prospects to promotion.

I was thinking of taking the Cedar Rapids hitters...I am just not sure I am committed enough to do a decent job for all of them.

It is just about starting the threads, not maintaining them. I understand that, though the actual most work goes into initiating the threads so it is a bit hectic to get this off the ground. I need a bit of time, but I will start doing this pronto.
