gunnarthor Old-Timey Member Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 Sadly, it only happened in spring training. http://deadspin.com/yoenis-cespedes-decides-ball-thats-right-there-is-unpla-1766886124
biggentleben Verified Member Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 A commenter posted the Justin Upton play without mentioning that the ball in question was actually stuck under the wall, as visible as it may be.
bluechipper Provisional Member Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 That was almost as impressive as his play to open last year's World Series.
big dog Verified Member Posted March 25, 2016 Posted March 25, 2016 He's still getting used to centerfield. Everything looks different from there. Wait, that's not it.
Winston Smith Verified Member Posted March 25, 2016 Posted March 25, 2016 Did Sano catch a fly ball or something?
DocBauer Old-Timey Member Posted March 25, 2016 Posted March 25, 2016 Wait...should I be crying or laughing hysterically? Because inside, I'm kind of doing both.
DocBauer Old-Timey Member Posted March 25, 2016 Posted March 25, 2016 I'm having a flashback to when Roger Dorn produced his contract to manager Lou Brown in regard to "excessive calisthenics" he doesn't feel are necessary and Lou's only response is to quietly urinate on said contract.
Blake Verified Member Posted March 25, 2016 Posted March 25, 2016 Is it me or has Cespedes lost interest in Spring Training? I find it hard to believe Mr. Cespedes was serious about the whole thing. Cespedes being Cespedes?
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted March 25, 2016 Posted March 25, 2016 The ump's handling of this was brilliant.
ashbury Verified Member Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 You want a player to be looking for any little edge, but this episode was on the badly thought out end of that spectrum. Pick up the ball and throw it to the cutoff man, you probably hold the runner to a double. Get the ump to call it out of play, it's a ground rule double. You're risking the runner getting to third, by making the play, but (if I'm reading the screen correctly) it's two outs, reducing the value of the extra base.
