I wish Jeff Gray would just go away.

*cue his defense team*

amazed at what the Twins see in him. Lucky for him, but I believe MN plans on keeping him, the minor league relievers have been battling injuries (oliveras, guerra, guittierrez, waldrop earlier in yr) all yr.

We all wish Jeff Gray would go away, but the problem is he's not even top ten on my personal list of "who do I want to see go away?"

But he is the most recent.

And he's gone but you probably meant for more than just today.

LOL, they just mentioned about how we used to complain about Punto. How I miss the days when we could complain about a scrappy hitter with amazing defense being a dud in the lineup! Compare that to the pitching problems now and it seems pedestrian.

What do I win if I watch the rest of this game?

In the real world you win a headache. But if there was justice, you would win a weekend in Vegas with that weather girl, so that you could forget this crapfest.

Keep watching.

If they can get one in the end zone here they can take the lead.

Pending the extra point.

The A's are a very small market team. Why not offer every one of their scouts and talent evaluators $10,000 more than they are making now, then clean house?

The A's always seem to have solid pitchers. The Twins could too at a cost that would be less than 10% of what they blew on Marquis.

And now Casilla is trying to bunt for a hit...with two down and a runner on third.

Lexi solidifies his spot at number one on my "who do I want to go away" list.

I got a good laugh out of that.

Ditto.

Seth, so you'd rather have Duensing stink as a starter, as bad as Hendriks or Blackburn, and not have him in the pen? It's silliness to have him start. He is a good reliever, and an awful starter. There is no upside this year or next, having him start games this year. It's just bad strategic use of your personnel, which shouldn't be surprising for this team....

At the time they moved Duensing into the rotation, I didn't have a problem with it because there just weren't other options. And, 2012 is over, so it's not hurting (or helping) Duensing to get time in the rotation.

Most important for me is 2013, so I think that they do need to let Hendriks work on some things in the minors at this piont and just let him pitch there for awhile. Blackburn could probably come back up, although he's not really any better.

Possible, but this would again anger me as it keeps retreads like Casey Fien & Jeff Gray (who have NO future with team) on the club over a guy like Robertson (left handed specialist only...and a MN developed player) gets the axe.

I hate adding guys over our own developed guys....massive pet peeve.

Casey Fien is a retread in the same way that Jared Burton is. I'm all for building from within and it's certainly ideal, and the Twins do that as well (or better) than most teams. If my guess is the way they'd go, Robertson got is chance, like many guys he will take the experience back with him to AAA And come back better, we hope. Happens all the time. My point is always to do what is best for the prospects. Sometimes that is not pushing them. It's not getting 'the axe' permanently.

Seth, if you were the GM for a day would you fire anyone? At least a scout or two?

It appears that the Twins should have sent the big league club to extended spring training over the All-Star Break. This team really sucks out of the gate. I am figuring the 2nd half starting gun is going to be as bad as the Opening Day starting gun. Hello 30 games under .500.... Yehaw!

Maybe the goal is to get the #1 draft position next year.

If that is the goal I certainly hope there is a Strasburg or Harper type in next years draft. Preference being a Stasburg type.

As bad as the Twins can play at times, they won't match the sheer incompetence that is every level of the Houston Astros organization. The Twins won't gt a Strasburg type from the draft no matter what they do.

Duensing is NOT a starter...he found his niche in the bullpen and that's where he should stay.. I know they have little choice right now but I'd rather see Blackie as the 5th starter as bad as he's been then BD...at least Duensing has value in the pen. Call Hendriks back up and let him continue to take his lumps but BD needs to be back as the situational LHP/7th inning guy he is.

If what you say is true. Then you play to win. The MLB Draft is a MF'n crapshoot.

More accurately, I think you play to win in 2013. Hendriks, Dozier, Plouffe, Parmelee, Revere, and possibly even Hicks later this season should be getting playing time and lots of it.

Brian Duensing was doing something subtly wrong with his delivery today. You've all heard of the "chicken wing" move that you do with your glove side elbow? Well, Duensing's chicken wing was loose, not tucked in tight enough. Might seem minor, but letting his glove hand fall away just a little bit resulted in a slower rotation of the scapula, leaving his release point late and subtracting rotations from his spin. Ball rode up high, and hitters had a real fun time smacking his nothing pitches over the fence.

Tuck in that chicken wing tight, Mr. Duensing. Get that good snap. That'll bring the ball down, add a couple mph and a few more rpm to the spin.
