Evan Gattis

mlbtraderumors.com is reporting that Evan Gattis is a potential non-tender candidate, or in any event a trade candidate, given Houston's depth at catcher.  I've been wondering about Gattis for quite awhile, and I've been surprised to see his name missing in the many threads that discuss the need to upgrade from Suzuki.

While Gattis isn't likely to be the answer to life's persistent questions, he seems he'd be a definite upgrade from Suzuki, especially with the stick.  Any thoughts?

Here's the article from traderumors, which also talks about the recently departed Twins great, Dean Chance: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/10/al-west-notes-chance-gattis-castro-mariners.html

I know Dioner Navarro isn't exactly a future All-Star, but he's not needed in Toronto and is a free agent. His defensive stats are no worse than average and he is a switch-hitter. 350 plate appearances for both Navarro and Zuke wouldn't be a world beater, but might be adequate for a playoff team and neither would be overworked.

Hard pass. No need to see Matt Lecroy 2.0 behind the plate.

It would be amazing if TR let Vargas or Arcia go in order to give a spot to Evan Gattis

Navarro is my realistic acquisition candidate that actually improves the position.
